#Pls stop reworking good maps

Found the cliff sniper
its cute that you think that
what made basra good for you?
all the POIs are interesting, except maybe B and E, and there wasnt alot of empty space inbetween points
it also accommodated alot of different playstyles
"and there wasn't a lot of empty space in between points"
We playing the same map?? Cuz I don't think we are.
if you want empty space look at sandysunset and eduardovo
thats empty space
there is nothing like that on basra
Literally empty spaces. One of the point is a bunker making the upper part a big empty space. Big unused water area empty space
basra bad, needs a rework
if you look at the image of it it looks way more interesting
also forgot all the empty islands that aren't really useful
except for that one or two off snipers

and servers are gonna keep old basra in rotation so its not gonna be gone
my proposed rework for Basra:

I'd be very down, then we can have a map like old_oil dunes but instead of lots and lots of tanks it's lots of boats.
tbh I want a flooded swamp/town mape for that
damn bro climate change has gotten this bad?
My biggest issue with basra is the fact that you are practically forced to pass the ship part just to get to the other side and its already hard enough to do so cause it is the most contested point
And somebody is bound to see you cross that no matter what you do
Its just very linear
idk
its only linear if you like tried to do the map like point c>d>e
or you can ride helis or boat
to back cap
Ive had some success with helis but very little with boats
But i just feel like it always boils down to getting C just to get the other points most of the time
basra literally feels like you're in an hourglass if you look at it from above
tons of empty space on the top and bottom with a super narrow choke in the middle
Exactly
The choke point is really good imo
Its the best thing about basra
But getting anywhere else requires you to get C first most of the time
Cause most players will be without vehicles throughout the game
Its also a bit weird even on snipers
On one hand, top and bottom spaces, plus the islands give the pleanty of places for sniping
On the other, you have to keep an eye out both for the chokepoint and the empty space where the enemy team is at
Cause from both you can get domed easily
And in some cases, one of the islands as well
I really like the new and remodeled maps visually and atmospherically. But to play... visibility is just terrible, always some rat in the back. One sticking out heads because of all sorts of fences and fences, which do not hit, even notice unrealistic. Oh, I was talking about visibility.
I'm mostly concerned that the "reworks" don't feel anything like the original. Which, to me, makes it a new map. I wonder if the reworks could be added to the same area of the game world and get a variation on the name instead of "old" which implies bad/irrelevant/outdated. Basra is it's own thing that a lot of people like. Seems like it might be better to rename the original "Basra Wreck" and the update "Basra Coast" or something. That way they can be flavors instead of a complete substitution that is going to bum some people out. I dunno. Feels kinda bad completely losing such a familiar spot love it or hate it.
rework/remake and remaster its different things.
There is no point to keep old map because it will be less popular and players will be confused on with one map they do play to report issue.
Its okay to industry, like in popular Battle Royale games, maps does evolve and old maps sometime back for short time events.
so remake in battlebit its a brand new map that follow spirit and ambient of old maps with adjustment to PoI
IMO, you make it irrelevant by naming it "Old Basra". For a game that desperately needs new content it seems like launching "reworks" as a brand new map with a different name and adjusted visuals and leaving old maps (especially popular ones like Basra) as-is is a big missed opportunity. The reworks we've seen so far are pretty much brand new. District and DustyDew are nothing like the originals except for the atmospheric effects and some assets. Most people wouldn't notice/care. It's not perfect, but I'll certainly miss Old Basra. Just my $.02
It's not like anyone can know for certain that new, updated maps will automatically be "more popular" than an older map.
Popular ≠ good (also looking at you, Waki).
Basra was only "enjoyable" if you were sitting on top a hill with a sniper/lav farming players who were actually PTFO. The only saving grace POI was the ship, and I'm glad the Vilaskis realized this and kept it as the center of attention while reworking the barren mess that was the rest of it. Bless this man
Sure, but you have to assume that popular = fun. I hate Waki, but it gets chosen so I have to conclude that a lot of people enjoy it.
Basta = worst map to me. Super excited for rework.
I think battebit really shines when maps allow classes to be somewhat equal and when they allow objectives to be approached from different directions
Basra suffers from snipers as they have a clear advantage over other classes: they have islands and large hills on both sides with plenty of cover to work with
Its the map where ive been killed by snipers the most, excluding new dusty and valley
It also has a bit of an issue with how you can approach objectives. Most can be approached from only 2 sides viably on basra, with the exception being bunker on B
That type of stuff is getting better with newer maps and reworks
gosh new dusty every objective has hills around it is a snipe fest i run into way more snipers on it then on basra and valley, but they are at least normally closer so you can somewhat deal with them
i still like reworked dusty tho
just like all snipers complaining that their guns are now leaving trails behind them, a movement exploiter is complaining about adding inertia. maybe just let the playing field be a little more level and fair?
Also fun fact fuck you
Tbh the focus should be on fixing old maps by slowly but surely removing any glitchy textures through overlapping (aka, rocks in tunnels, grass in houses) and new maps
And having more assets in those new maps as well as polishing old assets
am i right though?
