I had sent these to Larry on Sep 25th 2023 in hopes that it could improve the viewing experience for community events and rivals. Watching rivals main cast was dreadful because their only option is to use twitch streams because the in game spectator camera is so terrible. This obviously creates a sour taste for first time BBR viewers as the casters have to compensate for the shitty viewing experience.
- Allow player names to stay on even when spectator settings hud is closed. (1/3 of the screen was covered in obnoxious text)
- ticket count displays on top of screen (have to press tab to see who is winning)
- player names replace team colors, much better than a small dot that is hard to see. The current team indicator is even replaced if you are steam friends with someone, meaning there is no way to tell who is who.
- both teams show on map (friendly and enemy colors only, no steam friend/party recoloring system) This might be possible with api, I'm not sure.
- function key to toggle capture point spheres in game, for both showing the cap area and an icon for who owns the cap (maybe use 2 different function keys for this)
Side note:
Would've also been a good idea to recruit people that have experience with spectator camera and casting matches, fortunately we decimal casting but there was so much left to be desired. Community members like @surreal coral @arctic talon @prisma needle @blissful hawk could've contributed so much to the event.
