We all know this issue is way too prevelant. With the random assignment we too often get fully AFK or completely useless squad leaders. Give us the power to remove them!

How would it handle reassigning the squad leader, would it be the next highest level scorer in the squad? Also how would it be communicated to the team, a popup where the users press a key for yes/no, like in CS' kick option?

I've had to do that countless times since free weekend has started. But that doesn't cover squad leads with no communication, playing solo in Narnia, etc. All they have to do is middle mouse click.

I'd say a similar pop up, and then notfied on your screen but for the whole squad like it does now but only if you become the squad lead.

Well, yes, I think that in general players should not be automatically pushed into the squad, maybe they are poorly versed in team play and would not like to play like that. And the players in the squad could be equivalent, but the problem is that then the players who will not be in the squads will appear far from the fighting.

the problem with this is that most people wouldn't know to do this. this would only work if you tie it to something people actually want to do, like voting for objectives to cap or something

I just know we need a better system for it, the games I have an active / competent squad leader just feel so much better / lively. The mute, halfway AFK, and clueless ones make me feel like I'm playing SP in my squad

I'd be up for a "X Player is asking to become squad leader because [premade reason]. Do you accept? (Auto-accept in 10s)" pop-up in the top-right.
Similar to the community boards that you press F9 to move, this could ask you to press F8 to agree, F9 to disagree (to avoid fat-fingering disagree).
I'd make it a bit more prominent for the SL, so they can realize "Oh shit, I'm SL and they're essentially saying I'm AFK/not cooperating!" and it either kicks their butt into gear... or they don't give a damn and ignore it (and thus accept by default), giving another the role if they want to do it.
Simple, straightforward, out of the way so that by default, someone who has some initiative can get in there and SL it up for their squad.
Majority wins ofc.
If the system's trolled too much, I'd increase the amount of disagree votes needed, otherwise I don't really see a way to "troll-proof" such a system.

You could also just ask in squad voip, if you can be squad leader.

I'm bad at numbers, make it 30s or something, the point is for a squad leader playing solo ignoring their squad (thus ignoring this SL request message) to eventually auto-accept
Agreed that 10s is too short, though, I hadn,t thought of sneaky little shits yoinking SL spots to troll.. xD
Or maybe it's just a 1 minute timer for the vote, and by the end if there isn't a majority of Denied votes, it goes through as "no one voted? you're in chief" or something, idk

So much sh*t can go wrong with votekick SL.
When we already have the option to just make our own or just ask politely in voip or text.
I just think that instead of implementing this. We should have a big "You're now squad leader, if you don't want to lead your team, HOLD X to pass it to someone else. If not press Y" when the game load and it there until you press one or the other.
