New ping system is nice and all but why was quick pinging removed? It was essential intel distribtion.

I propose following: A quick middle mouse button click will quick ping as usual (before the update), however there is a cooldown of 1 or 2 seconds so people who try to 3D ping enemies but fail will not spam quick pings accidentally.
But this is important: Whenever you would 3D ping someone, it always does so (meaning 3D pinging is unaffected by that cooldown).

Why we need Quick pinging: Sometimes you just can't ping places where enemies last peeked, nor can you ping behind which rock or wall an enemy is (Regardless of whether you are dead or alive). When i saw the 3D system announced, I thought it goes without saying that it will be an addition to the previous Quick Ping, not a replacement. And let's be real, locking the old Ping behind a Wheel menu is not realistic as... well I named it Quick ping for a reason - and that is not quick. It's simply a ping you can use in a pinch to tell squadmates where an enemy is or where he is hiding after you had an engage where both survived and are now busy healing behind some cover.

this. pinging is completely broken with this change. We have to get regular white non-spotting pings back in one easy button

The one press - ping will be returned, before, ping spam was a complain, due to this, it was made bit more harder to spam it, however, now we have 3 limit so that shouldn't be an issue, will return it after twitch rivals event on next update.

Thank you Oki! Can you confirm if enemy and player marker size is controlled by the same stats in settings? My enemy marker size is tiny but I have my team mate markers set small as well

and once you hit 4 pings, the 1st one is overridden to allow only 3 on-screen pings per player?

the problem is now that doing a ping requires the hold into the radial. so thats fine for anything else that allows for more time than a quick enemy sighting

Oh oki while you're here, UX on the ping wheel doesn't feel that nice. Is there any way to change it to use mouse direction instead of direct clicking to select the option?

the amount of mouse travel time required to select an option would be significantly less

the mouse sensitivity seems to be screwed on some resolutions, when it's working, it performs same as clicking with mouse

EG. moving the mouse in the 2 o'clock firection will highlight the option at 2'0clock

I think fortification should just be key bindable, and then everyone gets a pickaxe and get gather wood, bricks or metal from the environment. Then once placed it automatically starts building itself, first it will have low HP, until its fully build with full HP. I would also spread chest around the map and let every player just drop from some sort of airplane where you can choose your landing spot by dropping with a parachute

I'm unsure if the ping update did this intentionally, but I'd also like to see enemy pings returned to the drone. We already only really see them used as a bombing weapon, but for the few of us who used the drones for recon purposes it was nice to give the squad exact enemy locations

Only oki knows if it was intended to remove quick ping. But I think it was because, it would be pretty noticeable when you are working on a ping system that you have to do something with the old one

Just to clarify, 3D pings are the ones that stick to enemies? I'm learning new terms here cuz this is the only battlefield style game I've played

Drones cant use 3D pings. The only pings they have is the one through the circle menu.

would be great if we could get the old pinging back, and make it to where pings from your party show up as orange. When I would try to coordinate with my friend Im queued with, we'd ping and it's impossible to tell what ping is ours in the sea of a million pings in random spots

I was able to tap the ping button without opening up the menu and 3d-mark an enemy. However, it didn't work on the next match. Maybe it's just me.

Is this what we mean by quick pinging, or do we mean the "ping anywhere" system?

Just FYI for those that don't look in Upcoming-Updates, Oki said, "Clicking the 'ping' button will ping the same as it did before; holding it will open the menu.
The maximum number of pings that can exist at a time has been increased from 3 to 6 pings per squad."

Ok so it's back, but it isn't

We wanted the old system back where you could quick ping and after some short time it goes away. 1:1 the same as it previously was. What we get is up to 3 squad pings that instantly disappears if someone else of the Squad uses it, instead of that being a seperate system

I vaguely remember there being a squad limit on white pings before the update regardless.
Instead of removing the pings, the system used to disallow you from pinging? I know there was a patch note somewhere that basically said we’ve decreased the number of pings per squad from 6 to 3

Anyway
I’ll have to try the new system out before drawing any conclusions, but I imagine my only gripe with it is that people on the squad could troll by spamming pings to remove everyone else’s. (At which point you’d just leave your squad/remove them from the squad as Squad Leader)

Guys, the changes are already in. The quick ping is back we just aren’t using it properly. You need to tap the ping button once quickly for a quick ping and hold for the menu
