Quick preamble: in Planetside 2, infiltrators (= recon) had a tool that would passively ping enemy locations around it every ~1s and make dots show on the minimap. This is much weaker than the upcoming 3D live tracking idea, and even then it was already enough to essentially remove stealthy flanking as a strategy from any moderately-sized battle, so I expect this to be shortly recognised as rather overtuned.

I think that a nice compromise in giving players awareness of enemy positions without outright wallhacks, would be to keep 2D tracking on the minimap AND add it to the compass, with something like red vertical lines pointing in the direction of spotted enemies. To give a sense of distance, transparency can be applied starting at 50m and slowly fading out until it's a light shade from 200m out. Do keep a ~4s 3D marker for the initial spot BUT make it static, so players can still effectively communicate precise locations, just without the wallhacks.

Somewhat relatedly, as such a change implicitly nerfs the relevance of the new Recon spot duration bonus, I would suggest making it so any movement other than running is silent outside of a very small (~2m) radius around Recon. This should help people who like to play more aggressively with this class pull off better flanks without significantly buffing the very controversial long distance snipers.

One guy on a tank and an AK15 recon with airdrone providing close overwatch should be just about unstoppable.
