How to fix Medic

Medic is actually a support class, even tho it's used an an assault, ergo, used wrongly..

Everyone complains it's overpowered, it's a 1-man army, and in it's current, broken state, it is..

Everyone also complains, that Snipers, are not team players, "they just sit on the outskirts, popping a few players, here & there"...

News Flash!
The Medic is also NOT a team player, currently.

Therefore, I've thought about this a lot, so here's my idea's

Weapons

SMG's, PDW's & Maybe Carbines

They don't need AR's, as they are supposed to be helping/supporting the team/squad push. These are reserved for the Assault class.

Teamplay

1 change will make the medic, less OP, bring it back to being a team-player, while not completely nerfing it..

Remove the self heal from the medkit.
By removing this, the Medic class now has to rely on other medics for heals, meaning, they are no longer 1-man armies, or OP.

Team mates will now have to protect the medic, for that push, making him more important.

He can no longer run off, and do his own thing, for so long..

That's not to say he's useless, he still has 20 bandages, which means, he can still heal himself like 6 times, before he runs out.. It's just no longer infinite..


Yes, a controversial take, I get it, I'm a big Medic fan boy, but I play a Medic, to be a Medic, not Rambo, that's what Assault is for..

FYI, the Support class cannot just click to replenish his ammo.. "because it's OP", Yet.. The Medic can...

I know that this will get frowned on, as people don't want to lose their OP chars, but Medics are broken.. Removing weapons they should have, I dunno, I don't see how that'll help..

Weapon choices are all about CQC killing, most meta weapons is in those categories, while AR's are all rounder guns with less killing potential and more flexibility, something that fits a support class
Then medic is still too fast and has too many mags at the same time, so remove ranger vest

People dont play medic because its OP, people play it because with how damage and bleeding works it is the least tedious class to play. If you want fewer people to play medic as assault, buff assault to make it fun. Just flat out nerfing medic would kill a pretty large play style for no reason other than “thats how the class is supposed to be”.

It no longer has the speed it has before, all classes have the same self-heal time, and no other class can really survive as long. People simply won't play medic often, period, if this change happens.

If a Medic is allowed to run alone for 90% just able to heal itself after every engagement then there is something overpowered about it, nobody should be able to play Medic as if he is RAMBO since it ruins what the actual purpose of a MEDIC is.

I like this idea but the medic should then get bandages buffed to 30 and exclude support's ammo kits from selling bandages. Highly recommend you add this to the suggestion message if you like it enough.

Assault still wont be meta as in getting most kills. They'll be able to maybe get 6+ guys holding a position if they are good enough but they still wont be able to lone wolf 24/7 due to limited bandages

There is an inherent flaw with the infinite availability of medic's self sustain.
While I'm fine with it being THERE, I don't think it should be infinite.

Give medics more XP for revives and heals and you will immediately see 50x more active medics. Number go up = dopamine in brain. The 4 days when medics were getting giga XP was the most active I have seen the medic community. Conquest has 20 dedicated repairers every game now because they get giga XP for repairs. Will good players still lone wolf shit on everyone yeah, but they will do that no matter what you make the meta, changing the whole class because of <1% of the player base does is silly just give medics XP for doing their intended job.

The problem with medic is that it allows you to be very agressive, and it gets in the way of classes like assault and engineer. Just limite the usage of the medi kit to self with charges and create a new version like "heavy medi kit" that behaves like the one we have but nerfs your movement speed.

First of all, it is rather other classes need to be balanced under the independence of the medic. People play on it not to constantly heal others, but to resist crowds of people and with a good game to defeat groups of enemies. As a medic you are not invincible, you have the same health as the other classes (except support) and if you don't move well and don't shoot well you are a nobody as a medic. The best suggestion for getting people to play as any class, (except sniper) is to give a box of xp to all classes for 6 full uses. If something like that happens, I the level of overall skill in the game will increase and the game will become harder and more interesting to play. In addition, the game in the OBT and such an update in the form of a test for a week or two will collect a general idea of players from such changes. And, well, and another thing, if your proposal is approved, then most likely you are more likely to balance not a medic and online at the game to 1k players.

People don't want tactics, people don't want roles. People need to run and gun. Medic gives you that. You get hit, a couple seconds and you're back in combat. Take away the medic's healing and we get the run of a disabled man who gets shot and sits there bandaging himself up. That's why there are fewer players for other classes, because they break the "run and gun" formula. If they want thoughtfulness, they go squad or Arma.

I don't have a solution, but thinking about a possible development vector is to make the other classes as fun as medic, not make medic as boring as the others

Ok, what if they reduced the max amount you could heal to by a percentage per bullet taken.

For example, 0.5% lower max heal per bullet taken

If you get shot 20 times then you’re only able to heal yourself up to 90% hp and have to bandage the rest.

Reduces medic’s survivablity when solo and could maybe make it so that the reduction resets when healed by other medics. Thereby incentivising team play

The problem is with the tedious bleeding and healing mechanic. The only reason why I'm even on the medic class is so I don't have to deal with these mil sim mechanics in my massive player base shooter. You can't even spawn without being put in a bleed, needing to heal, or dying half the time.

If all bandages healed to 100%hp this would actually make me play Assault. I know for a fact all of the 'rambo' medics would agree.

tbh one way or another Medic has to be nerfed someday, the problem with them is that Medic has always been a better Assault that has infinite self healing and most of Assault's kit just for no stat buffs of the Assault. People have suggested some ways to buff Assault and other classes which mainly wants to increase the self healing of other classes or give them gimmicks that Medic wouldn't have but there's problems with those.

  1. Increase self healing of other classes?
    Then Medic's intended role would become obsolete at some point if we keep increasing self healing for others, with self bandaging speed going to be the same as Medic and supply crates you'd barely need to stick around for a Medic who actually do their job to heal you.

  2. Give other Assault more gimmicks so people would actually play Assault to assault instead of Medic?
    Medic's ability to self heal infinitely is definitely one of the reasons why it's meta af, any buff or gimmick given to Assault would have to be stupendously strong to top Medic in the role of assaulting and flanking and that's gonna be a balancing nightmare, game's no fun if you're going to get killed even faster than now.

Medic arguably oversteps the role of Assault way too much because their kit is way too similar as of now and has infinite self healing on top of that, so most people don't play Medic as intended and play like Assault because it is indeed a better Assault
