#Leader (Commander) class proposal

Bring back the Leader class, but:

  1. It DOES NOT participate in gun play. Instead, the player is given a map with all info of one side including all arrows for friendlies, squad leaders, squad orders, etc.. May also utilize the current spectator system and enable the leader to get into any friendly's view. In short, Leader role can get the maximum information.
  2. Instead, it gives orders to squad leaders, and potentially individual players. And apparently has mic access. It may also be able to spend squad points in some way. Of course, this is not a ware but a game, so the orders are not mandatory. But if orders followed and succeeded, points will be rewarded.
  3. Leader's numbers can be limited, like 2 per side for 127v127, 1 for 64v64. And it can be locked until a player has reached a certain prestige level/spent enough hours on all classes, etc.

Motivation is, if someone wanted to abandon gunplay just for leading, they must be very into strategically turning the tides. So let them go ahead and see how the game can be changed. And basic limitations prevent new players to screw around with the role.

As someone who enjoyed playing commander in battlefield 4, I approve this message

#

Plus if the devs problem with aerial vehicles for players is how oppressive they would be, something like a strafing run you could call in would still give that crazy war zone feeling without being too oppressive

it's not a bad idea but from my experience ppl don't even bother about squad lead orders so a commander would just scream into a void

#

as long as bbr is run and gun you can't properly add it

If you thought being stuck on a team against a good LB pilot was annoying imagine being stuck on the team with some angry nerd shouting unintelligible nonsense into his mic while the opposite team has a tactical mastermind that knows how to exploit every map and game mechanic to maximum effect.

#

Last thing this game needs is more things only a handful of people out of the hundred in your team can have access to.

Plus, a commander may actually have people follow squad leader orders

#

Since I find the problem to be squad leaders don't give orders

#

Not that people don't exactly follow them

#

and honestly i dont always care about orders too

scarlet plaza
#

That's generally always gonna happen but I think that is partially caused by the lack of people using orders to begin with

#

Self defeating

#

Though an argument I can use is a commander with a UAV would encourage the squad to stick together because most people just run toward the red triangle

#

Uav controls that behavior into concentrated attacks

if we move the game from run and gun to more teamplay i can totally see a commander but not in bbrs current state

scarlet plaza
#

As it stands right now, outside of arbitrary points, there's no real gameplay reason for teamplay

#

Medic and support share

#

Engineers exist

#

But actually coordinating not so much

#

My thought is maybe use the squad points to encourage it

#

Like bigger structures that take more people to build timely
