audio in general is funked
Inherently I just think audio needs to be looked at. There's just so much audio clutter. I often play the game completely muted.
Yes, it feels like it's appropriately loud WHEN it works, but it very often doesn't at all.
also indoor audio needs to be reworked lol
You can entirely hear everything going on at C in Frugis in the subway station - way above you on the ground
they need to reduce audio through physical barriers like walls

Not louder, more like increasing the range radius where you able to hear it.
Or set the base value to max and each meter the volume value and EQ that cuts out high frequencies gets it's values lower/more-amplified.
If you would get your suggestion added you would have ear r-ing sound volume when your team mate or enemy runs next to you.
Ally sounds are already dampened
Which is actually annoying because it also applies to your own so you have no way of knowing how loud you're being for nearby enemies

I mean with a headset it's quite noticeable.
Even during massive gunfight, because during those, you essentially can't hear your allies's steps, so the only one you notice are ennemies
loll u can actually hear the campers if they’re not getting drowned out by every other sound in the game
players spriinting around with SMG are not afraid of campers

Yeah, footstep noise is fine when they are close to you. But they cut off to zero sound wayyyyy too close.
I wanted to jump in here - one thing ive noticed that isn't very cool is that the footsteps on gravel and dirt is WAY louder than asphalt/house floors. unsure if this is intentional though

Or.. just improve the audio and people wont have the issues they have with it now

As mentioned by most the current audio is fucked and needs an overhaul. The whole footsteps being too loud thing is part of that
Audio system rn is actually broken
They either dont even fucking work properly or are bugged
Sound verticality doesnt exist,
Squad VC is bugged, vehicles are way too quiet, the sound spread on guns (and how gun sounds work) is beyond stupid and broken
Can't hear it over the muffling anyway
- Sound occlusion applied
- Sound obstruction applied
- Gear foley played depending on obstruction/occlusion - armor type.
- Footsteps are matched with what the player is actually doing.
- Sounds are reverbed based on room size
is the sound update in the room with us
Enough for footstep loud noise too many sheet goin on in small map or flanking its hard to tell where the enemy are

After too many hours being a little bird sweat I can confirm the audio is fucked. I can hear footsteps of enemy’s 100’s of feet below me while in a goddamn helicopter haha. It gets annoying hearing their clambering when between fights
Even tested it with a friend in an empty server, the footstep audio only plays when he clambers around even while I’m at max height
