#better vehicle physics

Agreed. Every vehicle other than the LB feels like absolute jank to use. It's extremely easy to get stuck on stuff, come to an instant halt when bumping against some surface, bouncing uncontrollably when hit by enemy projectiles or just randomly sliding/shaking when it should be stationary.
I used to agree with you. But then once you get used to it, the vehicles actually function really well. Annoying car flipping doesn’t happen when you crash, tanks can crawl over stuff, cars can roll over bumps predictably. They work quite well for an fps oriented game.
Bugs need to be squashed for sure
The fact that nothing flips is quite nice and tank crawling works OK. But the way Humvees come to an instant stop when hitting the wrong doodad just makes them horrible to drive in urban areas, same for APCs.
And don't get me started with the insane cam shaking on whatever vehicles that randomly happens or how easily they get stuck on shallow areas
What doodads are you talking about
Stuff like map HESCOs, trucks, signposts or just slightly too tall walls
Like the hedges around houses in District A point
Their base has just the right height to get the APC stuck if you try to drive across
the square rocks in forests deserve a special place in hell
Gunboats hit the tiniest bit of land cus the waves bounce it and suddenly your looking the opposite direction
There are certain angles that bring you to an instant stop and other things, some small-medium sized rocks, can function as a ramp. Having more consistency on how much speed is reduced based on what angle you hit would make it a smoother experience. Reducing the floatness of a vehicle under its own power, mostly the jeeps and atvs, will maybe keep them from getting stuck two wheeling or spiraling in strange directions.
Vaguely related there are certain shallow water areas where the driver is kicked out by the varying water level height. It makes getting a vehicle through a pain/often results in abandon vehicles
might be hard to fix since the unity engine is really janky when it comes to making realistic vehicle physics, like hitting surfaces at an angle will put you to a complete stop instead of sliding you away, or if your vehicle is in the air an explosion or hit from another vehicle will send it flying
btw if anybody is curious how much each vehicle weighs:
Joe do you have old namak and old district extracted? I would like to use them for a mc project
minecraft?
Ye
the game works well with ramps though, wish they'd add some for quads or humvees to get to higher places, or just for fun. Also I couldn't resist doing this after spawning a bunch of vehicles in a row lmao
couple questions
- How did you get access to that info
- Is it just me or did they just make it so weight = HP
I don’t think weight is tied to HP, but it might be
Not saying it is hard tied somehow, but rather that the devs seem to just absent-mindedly have given the same values there for lack of a better idea
At least they seem very close to what I believe the HP to be (tho I don't have exact numbers either)
just vehicle physics doing vehicle physics things
#bb-screenshots message
Maybe not fun but it’s certainly funny
Absolutely
Could also be fun if Humvees actually had windows so janky physics getting you stuck don't mean you're instantly gunned down as well
