Depending on how that is resolved, it will either fairly substantially change where you can prone/crawl OR it will cause some goofy looking things. A bigger collision would be, rough
just make the lower player texture invisible if its clipping through walls/floors
That feels more out of place than magic legs to me

you wont see the part of the body thats clipping through the wall
so no one will know you are there and rocket or c4 you
And that sounds terrible

I dont have a better resolution than how it currently functions
It is strange to have legs sticking through the wall, but im not sure a bigger prone hitbox would be fun.

Thats one option, but that removes the ability to punish someone for standing too close to the wall which i think is a reasonable trade off for being able to prone, everywhere lol

i think its reasonable to not show body parts clipping through a wall giving away your position
R6S implemented this some time ago, although I don't know what performance impact this might have on a 256 server.

Tbh this is a easy thing to code, but, you have to check an make a readable instance of every structure/wall so it may take a long time, however I have no idea how or what is coded
it has been in so long that it is a consideration i have when choosing cover
One idea is when you can’t turn due to legs clipping, the game automatically “alt looks” and just turn your head until you crouch or turn your head back to the beginning position

How about when legs clip, it forces you into crouch?
Don't see a problem with that. You're already unable to lean when close to certain surfaces and mantling is janky as hell. Also, clipping into a surface could simply force the player to stand instead of just freezing them in place.
And at any rate this goes beyond legs clipping, being able to prone then rotate half your body into a surface also makes it extremely easy to camp under rocks/in grass in a way that makes half of your body disappear into terrain.
Hiding 1/2 your body is fun so I’d like it to stay somehow
i envision myself getting more frustrated in the hypothetical situation where I die because my movement was limited in a hard to predict way than when I die to someone who is prone and backed against a wall or something
i also think legs sticking out of thin walls makes it entirely fair to hide half your body in corners
performing cheese puts you in the way of a well-placed engineer and that is good
Wacky idea: Prone while walking backwards starts to slowly turns the camera left/right so the player is more parallel with the wall. If the player fights this turning of the camera, the camera starts to slowly twist 90 degrees depending on how much the user fights it, until you are curled as a ball on your side, making vision more challenging for you.
Idea 2: if the player crawls backwards into a wall (legs clip), his knees tuck in towards his chest. Simple.
i think if they made any changes to it (i don't think they should) a R6S/dayZ style prone where you can be prone or supine would solve the legs popping and clipping. if your legs prone go into a wall or terrain your character moves to their back and their feet point foreward
