#Anti Grenade Trophy - Feedback

Chucking C4 into a group of people is way too easy and often better than a nade, so allowing it to eliminate deployables does not seem unreasonable at all. Would also have a niche use for deactivating mines without triggering the loud explosion for flanking purposes.
In exchange for those buffs, would be sensible to not allow picking it back up and/or giving it a limited amount of charges after which it self-destructs. Ideally with an indicator for the owner so they can keep track of when to replace it.
should definitely delete C4 and RPGs
RPGs might be a bit too strong. But I can see it working if the charge system comes with different costs depending on its target. For example one RPG would instantly consume one trophy.
(must consider that with such an ability, it would also be used as a forcefield for vehicles, which I think would be cool and perfectly reasonable, as long as it has those kinds of reasonable limitations)
Sadly C4 I'd argue it wont ever target but there is logical reasoning as to why it should affect an RPG, what does the G stand for? :)
I really like how easy and reliable the current trophy systems are. You plop a few of them down, they kill the grenade spam, then you pack them up and go when you're ready to move. It's a fair interaction since there is no way to regain them that life if they get shot. It also takes time both to set them up and then pick them back up. Having them expire would feel like it punishes the player for using them. It would also create a sense of "we just need to spam even more nades to burn the trophies" mentality.
Maybe have some sort of heavy trophy system that supports can deploy with squad points which stop RPGs and C4 or something, which can't be picked up and might expire idk, just don't touch the current ones.
Could also allow them to be resupplied at ammo boxes in exchange for the limited duration?
More uses for a support box is always welcome, it's actually kind of weird that they're not already resupplyable when pretty much every other item in that slot is. So that'd be a fair tradeoff
The symbol needs to show up way further away for teammates. So many people destroy them because they can’t tell they are friendly from more than a few meters away.
Maybe they could get colored highlights directly on the structure, as uniforms do.
Exactly this, make them have a stripe or something somewhere like helmets do. Green if it’s friendly, red if it’s not.
I fr love them as they are
maybe i would make the radio bigger so it can cover 5x5mts?
idk whats the real radius but it feels like sometimes a granade lands just far enough to not activate the trohy but kills us anyway
Could show protection radius when deploying it
@maiden crow has earned the Tier I Member role!
that would be awesome fr
Engineer should be able to repair it.
My personal thoughts is this did very little to help with grenade spamming. In my opinion, all it does make grenades ineffective at combatting camping and over-fortification while doing nothing to prevent them from being spammed. If anything, it rewards players for staying in very tight choke-points and not pushing out. Grenades need fundamental changes, the trophy system isn't going to fix that.
I mean, there's no expectation that people will stop spamming their grenades when resupplies and respawns are abundant and incur no costs.
If you played Namak before the trophy, you would be absolutely able to appreciate the difference it makes in being able to hold a position and then progressively push.
At any rate, what change do you propose for grenades?
It's ok where it stands, but they really need to make it a "Hold Button" to pick up instead of just press. I end up picking them back up so many times when I'm just trying to grab my mag on the floor
But yeah maybe more range, and it should be able to stop all projectiles, like c4, rpg, and flash bangs* (unless it does flashabags already)
It should also have make an audible sound when destroying a projectile, like Jagers gadget from siege
s a m e
imo having a circle that shows its range would be cool too
the spawn beacon already has something similar where it shows where it can be put, so they can use the same thing to put a circle showing the range of use (?
Trophy should block C4 that is thrown
Destroying grenades with the trophy system should offer additional experience to the Support class. This would be similar to how stopping bleeds of 4x score for medics and destroying vehicles offer 4x score for engineers.
Solid gadget, agree with the "should delete C4" and "provide XP to the Support" takes.
Nothing to complain, except maybe reducing the noise it makes, I swear I can hear the bloody thing from way too far away.
Wait it makes noise?
yeah it does a little churning sound, like a windup music box
Huh
Wondering why this doesn't remove flash grenades
It really only removes frag grenades
Not the worst thing in the world, as it's still really good at doing its thing and makes the metro area in that one map I forgot the name of bareable instead of operation metro
Anti-grenade trophies should be removed from the game. The problem of grenade spam can and should be fixed by the players. All you have to do to not die to grenades is to not group up where they are being thrown (very difficult).
You can apply that mindset to literally anything though, that doesn’t make it a compelling argument.
No you cant.
Yes you can.
Thoughts:
maybe split the items up a little?
[] Point Defense Trophy
Destroys grenades of all types, deployables, and has unlimited number of uses. Score is given for each intercept. (4x for support)
[] Directed Point Defense Trophy
Same as standard trophy, but does not affect a circle. Instead it affects a longer cone, destroying grenades and deployables that cross it.
[] Point Defense Iron Fist
Destroys grenades, deployables, and rockets in a limited but substantially longer cone in front of it. Cannot be mounted to vehicles, has six shots before it's depleted and needs reloading. A support or engineer can do this.
Both items have their placement point and area of effect marked out when placing. They will also make a louder sound to indicate they intercepted a target.
so you'd hear a loud PANG! and the grenade gets destroyed.
I like the first two. But I fear the third one will be used in front of tank that stay in one position.
Most of the time damage doesn't matter unless you get a bunch of hits at once... engineer just repairs the tank after it backs up
or it just goes to base
Well, even if it's placed in front of a vehicle, you can still destroy it with a firearm tho. So probably fine.
The way C4 is used (99% like a grenade), the grenade trophy should negate it. But it doesnt, from what ive noticed.
