#MSR - Feedback

Basically a remodeled L96, I honestly think that there needs to be a bullet velocity increase so it makes it a UPGRADE over the L96 because atm all it has going is bolt speed and one other slightly significant stat.
I dont see why its so slow to run with, its just like the l96 but as slow as the m200.. i really thought this would be the quick sniper for some nice mid range kills. but its too slow, and therefore the l96 wins in almost every stat
Same
feedback on the gun i like the ping sound when you shoot it
The only thing that is disappointing for me with the MSR is the run speed, and that is due to the fact I was using it before the recent patch and we were moving at a faster pace. I am STILL using it because it is my favorite sniper but I actually think it is better than the M200 for the purpose I use it for.
Currently 1100 and counting kills deep with the MSR and these are the reasons I value the sniper a lot.
- ADS time is faster than the M200 currently is. ( Which I think is the off set for the difference in damage which I like!)
- Holds 1 more bullet in the magazine. Can't stress this enough but having that extra bullet I am totally okay with having more of a reload timer.
- Velocity. While some players have stated why the MSR isn't the best sniper because of the velocity, I find that I have really gotten use to the sniper itself and the bullet velocity and I am better for it. I can line up a shot when someone is running in a straight line and have them walk into it and it feels really amazing to hit.
I honestly think point #3 doesn't give it a ton of merit when it's the same as the L96, if it was higher then I'd say there's a justifiable reason to use it over the L96
That is my opinion on the sniper 😄
Everytime I use it, I just feel like using the L96 makes more sense
Which sucks because I want to use it more
Slow as fuck
This gun needs something to make it worth using. Slow move speed with average in-class bullet velocity and middling RPM...
I struggle to find a reason to use this sniper!
You unlock this so late and M200 or L96 both better at their speciality. The MSR bring nothing to the table that is not already there. It is really unrewarding to reach the unlock level and then the only good thing about the weapon is the sound it does when you shoot. Until you use a suppressor, because all bolt snipers need a suppressor against muzzle flash and sound.
it has little to nothing over the M200 it really should have it's damage buffed to fit how slow it is like 67 damage and a slightly sooner damage ramp up at 650M from 700M and a reduce it's reload time to 3.95 from 4.17 and I don't think increasing it's control to 0.10 from 0.00 would hurt it either
Pretty much echo the thoughts so far. However, instead of making it faster, I would prefer that both its damage and velocity be placed about halfway between the M200 and L96. It sounds very very good, both supressed and unsupressed, but there really is little reason to use this vs either the L96 or the M200. Would also like to see both its default and extended mag increased by 2 rounds, which would also put it roughly between the L96 and M200 for mag capacity. Frankly, I think the speed will be fine with the planned reduction of the walkspeed debuffs across the board, but that wont be enough to really give this rifle a rightful place in our arsenals
More Feedback:
- The new attachment update has made the MSR more usable since the patch that made attachments have 100% slow.
- My current setup I don't use a suppressor with the sniper, but as of last night I hit 1500 Kills with the MSR.
- I value the Armor Damage a lot with the MSR specifically. I feel like dmg that I am getting from the armor damage is helping secure a lot more kills. (I know people are comparing this to a worse l96 which on paper the stats don't lie)
- Has a lower ammo count than the L96 does and has a slower movement base speed. Which doesn't logically make any sense. (MSR is a lighter sniper rifle in reality but not by much)
Proposed changes:
- Keep the damage on the MSR the same and keep the armor damage.
- I don't want to make it a better L96 because I would like to keep the designs different, but maybe give the MSR a slightly faster movement speed.* (Doesn't have to be much in all honesty, maybe .90 compared to the .94 the L96 has. This would make the L96 and the MSR a preference pick rather than one just being better than the other.)*
- Add a quick mag option to the MS4 just like how the L96 has it, but make the magazine smaller. (Would allow maybe even faster movement and allow up close sniper engagements more)
4.** Reload Speed** change potential. Currently the MSR has a small magazine than the L96, but yet reloads slower and feel obligated to use the 925 URK under barrel attachment to reduce the reload .30.*** I don't want it to be lower than the L96!!*** But make it so that there is a small preference between the two. The 2 snipers need to be unique and not the same. - Control feels okay being 0. I don't really understand what it does anyways.
6.Draw speed can stay the same. No issues with it being the same as the L96. - Bolt speed no issues with that staying the same. Still feel as if I can compete against a L96 even if my bolt doesn't reload as fast.
- ***ADD GHILLIE MSR SKIN-***No questions to be asked Larry it is a must! Ghillie snipers are always the best looking skins/guns and it is a requirement!!!!!
just making sure you know; Im not sure that L and H-armour applies to infantry. I think thats for vehicles. in other words. i do not think it has an effect on the hits you get on infantry. only lil birbs and quads, afaik
Now nearing 1400 kills on the MSR, I only feel more convinced of my previous suggestion of placing the MSR's damage and velocity smack in the middle of the M200 and L96. Would additionally like to see L-Armour damage bumped up to the 20 that the M110 has, which combined with the increase to damage and velocity I think would justify the rifle's significantly more... "heavy" feel to its agility-based stats, and would probably make its tiny 6rnd mag a bit more justified. Would like to see the extended mag upped to 9 rounds tho. +2 is just too little for its current debuffs
This rifle is really cool, and considering its high level requirement, I would like to see it stand out more from the crowd. And since its a sniper rifle (a .338 LM rifle, at that), I feel like it would do nicely to fill a light anti-vehicle role relative to the other rifles.
Buff movement speed and ads speed and it’s perfect
something i just noticed; with bipod and extended mag, MSR becomes both one of slowest walkspeed guns and the slowest reload in the game, perhaps outright slowest for both. doesnt make a lick of sense to me
also, the tail-end of the MSRs recoil recovery movement/animation/whatever you want to call it is really slow when ADS. if you only use the gun occasionally, you might not even notice it, but after the major aim movements are done, theres still a small, very slow creep upwards to true aim-centre. if you try to shoot during this movement (which you might not even notice is still happening), you will probably miss. its very annoying and totally negates the guns decent-enough bolt speed
Every sniper has this and it's really annoying, I haven't really used the MSR because I see nothing better about it than the L96 but yeah, in general this needs to be changed in some way.
Either get rid of it, or have the gun fire where the reticle is aiming
gun needs to fire where the scope is aiming regardless imo. games that have guns firing where the barrel is pointing regardless of aim state always feel way more impactful and satisfying imo
fix msr pls
buff movement speed and ads speed
its not supposed to be a super heavy sniper like m200
or give it a short mag that turns it into a better l96

I have just passed 4000 on the MSR. Currently, I think this gun needs, at the very least a damage buff up to 69-70 base damage. This would put just its damage in-line with the much higher velocity, much faster reloading M200. I also think it would do well with either a reload speed and walk-speed buff OR a 2-3 round increase for both of its mags to start to offset the massive disadvantages it would still have against the M200. A 100 or so velocity increase would also be nice, but im not going to be greedy. Even taking all of the aforementioned changes, it would still be a directly inferior rifle to the M200, but it would at least be a stand-out rifle when compared to the L96, which currently overshadows it in every possible metric, with one exception; L-armour damage. But despite having a high stat compared to even the M200, it still comes out to a "+3 vehicle damage" for both the M200 and the MSR, so it clearly is a very small difference.
The gun currently excels at one single thing, and that is being a very quiet rifle when supressed. However, it does not break into the 1stk threshhold at any range when suppressed, so having a buff to its damage and velocity (and perhaps removing ranger barrel from it to balance???) to allow it to perform well even when suppressed would at least let it do something better than the other rifles
pointless too use when the M200 is unlocked befor and is just objectively the better sniper too use.
should be better than m200.
dunno about "better", but things would certainly be WAY more balanced if, at the very least because this is a very "bandaid" solution the M200 and MSR damages were swapped. would much prefer to have more work put into balancing the MSR, but its been ignored for so god damn long, ill take a simple damage swap with the M200 at this point 😭
honestly msr shouldnt be a heavy sniper
give it faster ads time, faster run speed comparable to l96 short mag
right now its one of the lowest movement speed snipers with the a very long reload and there is honestly not a single reason to use it over l96/m200
logically, yes. but i feel like having the final sniper rifle you unlock (by a large margin. its still a long way to 130 once you reach level 100) being a light-weight alternative to a sniper youve already unlocked would just be a bit underwhelming, especially with the L96 already has a "lightweight alternative" called "L96 short mag". M200 doesnt need to do as much damage as it does regardless, so having the MSR take up that empty "high-damage" niche would make sense
wrong
...okay?
ur wrong
DRAMA
no
What is supposed to be the utility/advantage of using the MSR? Have the devs answer that question and buff this gun next patch.
