Compared to other sniper rifles it is not worth using. Ideally the default unlock needs to be able to be a general use weapon and it needs to stack up to the others. The downsides of it having lowest damage, lowest velocity, and lowest zeroing capability at the same time making there very little point in using it and really puts new players at a disadvantage than any player with a later sniper unlock. Ideally I would like to see it balanced more as an all-arounder sniper rifle that is very general use. That way the later unlocks can then be balanced as more niche uses catering to specific playstyles.

I feel like most bolt actions should have there own niches to fill and the SSG 69 should be a jack of all master of none it should feel good in most things but not the best at one thing

Arguably the worst sniper rifle and probably the biggest indication to me that they need a rebalance at a class level. It's just, it doesn't do anything better than the alternatives. I wanted to like this gun but using it just reminded me that the Sv98 was a better version of it and the L96 is a better version of that. Needs to be re-evaluated with respect to the other options available. A small amount of movement speed bonus doesn't make up for the short-mag L96 being better in almost every way except magazine size, which is fairly mundane as a drawback for sniper rifles imo.

I think it's fine in terms of handling, but the model for the magazine is just comically undersized compared to virtually every other rifle. It could use higher zeroing.

it has highest running speed + 20 round mag which allows light carrier without worrying about ammo for even more speed. it’s in a good spot imo

why does the lightest sniper rifle has the second longest aim down time and draw speed ? also its bolt action seems so slow, which is a shame considering this should be the go to weapon for aggressive recons. instead if you want to have that playstyle you must take heavier snipers which makes no sense to me...

The player also basically turns the gun sideways when bolting which makes follow up shots at any useful speed incredibly difficult

ye this is also the case for sv 98

Perhaps I misunderstand, but I thought the point of starter weapons was to be serviceable yet mediocre so that the player wants to try things they unlock? I ran the SSG until rank 65, have gotten about 300 kills, and ran a suppressor for about 200 of those, and my biggest difficulty was just velocity. It's not a quickscope machine but it doesn't feel unusable by any margin.

I guess it's true that it doesn't really have any particularly great niche, because the bolt-speed doesn't compensate the damage. Maybe that could be buffed slightly.

Here's some suggestions to actually nerf the sniper class; i didn't know where else to put it:

  • if you're not ADS, then the weapon accuracy is really low, like 25%.
  • you can only ads when you're prone.
  • moving the sight/camera when you're ads - make this very slow.

I don't play much of these games but I'm really getting tired of folks "quick scoping" and using the SSG as a run & gun.

if someone is good enough to run and gun with sniper rifles then they deserve to do so. you've got all the advantage in fighting them. you have a full auto primary, they don't. if they miss their shot, they're more than likely dead. besides, it's a far more interesting playstyle than just sitting on a hill somewhere and being a jackass. you'd be silly to disincentivize it

You can basically sneeze at a sniper and kill them lol. They have no armor and can only shoot once every 3/4 of a second

from a player that literally only use SSG 69, and the main reason being that i love the bullet drop, i think the gun is really fine and useful if you really want to use it, the main downside would be the bullet velocity as others already said, for me it only really affect weird long shots

ofc any next weapon will probably be better tho, still, a headshot is a headshot and will kill using SSG 69 like any other sniper
obs: i dont use zeroing so i cant say about the 500m being the max for this weapon

.
maybe this should be in suggestions but its part a feedback so... anyways, someone please delete it if this shouldnt be here: a change that for me would be good if the main goal for SSG 69 is to be the "starter" kinda "testing the class" weapon, would be to reduce the "shake" while in scope, BattleBit is my first FPS game (well, i played CS 1.6 ages ago...) and I think that was the hardest thing to deal with in the beginning

And this happens with every sniper to varying degrees, the ssg is just the worst offender. Personally I think it would be fine if the reticle came back to rest before you can shoot, currently you are able to shoot while the reticle is way off center and the bullets still go to the center of the screen which feels really weird and unintuitive

#

This could be fixed by making the client side bolt animation slightly faster, so its back at rest by the time it's ready to shoot
