#Suppressors

arguably it's use mirrors how suppressors are used IRL, not necessarily keeping you hidden from the people you're shooting but to limit who knows you are shooting, helps in close quarters
"It's realistic" Should never be used in any kind of argument. to be honest, there is no functionality or benefit to supressors, because the volume and noise pollution, don't really allow you to 'listen' for gunshots.
i get that, i was just saying that's prob what the devs were going for
Even that I don't really know... I think they just added them to add them. But tbh, there is almost no use for them. If they stopped shooting tracers as a tradeoff for damage... it might be a bit more of a benefit. But tbh, that would suck to go against.
I disagree with your premise.
Suppressors do a few things that matter IRL, and they do a few things that matter for gameplay.
IRL they reduce the volume of the shot (relevant for your ear protection), they reduce muzzle flash for clear sight, and they reduce the amount of powder and smoke that comes out of the barrel because the suppressor captures a lot of it. It is also heavy. Suppressors also have mass, about half a kilogram sitting on the end of the barrel. This mass significantly reduces recoil, especially for single-shot firing.
In game, this should translate to quieter firing, minimised muzzle flash, and reduced recoil.
They’re genuinely amazing devices.
Why would you use a muzzle flash reducer or a compensator if you have a suppressor available? Well you probably wouldn’t but the additional weight might be a problem, and suppressors IRL can’t sustain continuous fire as the heat is absorbed into the suppressor. Jump on YouTube and enjoy watching people cook their suppressors to a red glow.
For some reason BattleBit has made suppressors behave a bit… unexpected.
The main point of suppressors seems to be hiding your muzzle flash, cause for some weird reason it's cripplingly large in this game, especially on LMGs, especially at nighttime. And for some reason suppressors have better stats, especially recoil, than flash suppressors or muzzle breaks, even though it makes no sense either from a realistic or balance viewpoint.
Flash hiders and suppressors seem kind of useless with every bullet having a tracer. I'd personally like to see suppressors remove tracers.
Removing tracers would be an absolute nightmare of knowing where you're getting shot from. These aren't closed off small maps, these are large maps with many angles to look out for when playing. If you've played Rust you know how ass it is ti fight against someone with a suppressor.
That would be the point of a suppressor. The player suffers downsides in weapon handling in order to gain the upside of being harder to find.
And snipers shouldn't be a problem since sniper glint is more than enough
Why not make audio better? The only reason I see for keeping tracers on every single gun is that every gunshot sounds like a muffled fart and the directional audio is vague at best.
Hell, maybe let me properly distinguish footsteps from distant APC shots and I'd be happy. Maybe some day we'll be able to visually identify an enemy by something other than a floating dorito
They could make the audio better to help that, yes. Again, these aren't small enclosed maps with 3 angles to look out for. Even if you know the general direction somebody is shooting you from, you have to now check every window, doorway, etc. to attempt to gauge where they are. It needs at least some faint visual cue, even a small gas like effect from the gun.
How about reducing the amount of tracer rounds that are fired with suppressors equipped?
The recoil added to weapons needs addressing, makes some unusable without breaking your wrist controlling the recoil over 20m, MG36 as an example.
Most fps dont have tracers.
Audio can be made better to help with the issue yes. My issue is even if you know the direction somebody is shooting you from doesn't mean you know exactly where they're at. Look at the buildings on Frugis or Lonovo, multiple windows on multiple floors that you now have to quickly find where the person is shooting you from. If you remove all visual indication someone is shooting at you you're literally playing where's waldo. The human eye is shit for finding something specific in an static image, something needs to exist so you can actually see where the shots are coming from. I would rather a player ask themselves "where am I getting shot from" and at least see the shooter before they die, instead of players getting pissed off because they literally can't figure out who just shot them and from where even after death.
I believe suppressors are poorly balanced in Battlebit.
A suppressor should provide a bonus to sound suppression, muzzle flash reduction (the game does this properly), sound spread, and velocity (As in real life, a suppressor will actually boost projectile velocity).
The suppressors should negatively effect ADS speed and draw time, as you are hanging a weight off of the end of the gun, making it harder to shoulder/muscle around.
The long suppressor should be more cumbersome, but provide the best increases to positives.
The Shorty should be more maneuverable, but suppress sound less, and have a significantly reduced, but still present muzzle flash.
I think supressors should also get rid of your tracers. The muzzle flash and sound supression is great, but what's the point when my tracers are just going to give me away the second I fire?
