This may not be a well known feature but APC has a weak point, similar to that of a Tank’s rear, on its right side. It multiplies damage about 2.5 times. This allows for HEAT rockets and AP shells to literally one shot this vehicle. It is also big enough to reliably abuse it to destroy vehicle with ease. The idea of possible oneshots, especially against features that serve as a power multiplier, and shouldn’t be easily counter and destroyed, doesn’t fit any FPS game, and stands in contrast to the idea of competing in game, by rewarding cheese tactics and possible borderline abuse of them. This mechanic doesn’t have any benefit to counterbalance its existence, like in the tank example where its front armour takes half the damage. There is no reliable way to play around this “feature” because keeping the right side away from the enemy is not possible most of the time. Especially with 127vs127 players gamemode and abundance of good AT options for infantry.
The implementation of this feature is very poorly handled, only punishing players while not offering ANY benefit to counterbalance it. The APC already struggles, and is at best underwhelming, presence of this weak point only adds to that in an unproportional way.
Removing it would be the best way to solve this problem, because APC doesn’t need or wouldn’t benefit from such a feature.
It could be argued that adding a similar mechanic would be beneficial if it would half the damage from other APC’s from the front and double it from the back.
To sum up, APC’s weak point is poorly implemented, not necessary mechanic that is only harming an already weak vehicle by allowing it to be one-shotted, not leaving any room for player reaction or counterplay.
