#Ping Limit Is Insufficient

Skill issue
I agree, the ping limit should be at most 170ms... At this latency at least you could see enemies running and moving relatively smoothly
200ms actually
Maybe 150ms tbh. That seems barely playable for both sides.
Remember this is a game with TTKs the fraction of a second. The high latency matters too much, and Oki has not magically invented the perfect netcode.
Sounds like a dev skill issue
games like overwatch, valorant, csgo don't impose ping restrictions
I've gone hard on 250 before so no
i hope so much, when you host a server you can set the high ping... Its make no fun when you run behind a cover, but dies because by the gamer from Asian i was not behind the cover -.-

Being a low price and low hardware requirement game, it attracts lots of players from lower income regions in Asia and South America who don't have good enough internet for 100ms ping. (me being one of them but my ping is around 80). I just saw a suggestion from someone in Asia to remove the ping limit cause they can't play. They either need a server there or play on high ping in EU or US. The game didn't show me the exact ping so I can't really tell at what point it starts getting annoying. I wanna say plays fine at 150, but I'm not sure. It's also not a small amount of people who will no longer be able to play if the limit is at 150.
Certainly isn't needed if the netcode is actually good, yeah
The only thing I gotta hand to OW
Just say "June 5th 1989" and the chinese players all just magically dissapear from the server
Is it really worth making everyone's experience worse tho?
I'd rather not play than lag around myself. Tbh
I think a good server in Asia should solve most of it. I was just trying add some info in the discussion so people have a better perspective of how lots of other players have lower quality internet and then decide what to do then just dropping the limit to 100 or 150 without much thought. I have experience in pubg where most of the playerbase is in Asia and in NA we never see them since the lobbies are much better over there, so that's why I was saying a good server in Asia should solve the issue since it is a large enough playerbase there to make it a worthwhile investment for the devs.
I did think it was a bit weird that I saw so many chinese players in NA. I've never seen that in any other game. I don't exactly know what's up with that. I'm assuming they don't have a server that's why
I recall asian servers are too expensive.
So self hosting needs to fix that.
The quality of the connection is hardly even relevant itself. It's a plain distance issue.
You cannot have a decent latency at that range, no matter what.
Oh I added that part from my experience since we just switched from copper to fiberoptic in my country like 2 years ago and the ping is still kinda meh. Internet in my country is a bit weird, cause the servers in Brazil are right next to us but that ping is like 2 or 3x of what I get in US servers. Cause our cables go to Florida and we don't have close connections with any SA servers. I just happened to be lucky I get the acceptable range of ping in my country. Just a fun fact
Also I did get 2 ping spikes yesterday and today, but I don't think the game kicked me. I just had to disable the game cause everything was stuck. I almost wanna say the limiter doesn't kick you when it spikes it just doesn't let you join when it's too high. The ping spiked hard and then internet dropped for like 1 minute
Fibre won't change anything about latency anyway, that's just marketing BS.
If anything copper is faster.
Light ain't beating electrity in speed.
We got better bandwith options after the upgrade. Ping reduced maybe by 20 max. Could be due to other upgrades we don't know of
Well, it's more complex than that tho.
But the majority of that reduction can come from better peering and simply newer tech.
Comparing 2000 whatever copper line systems to fibre from like 2020 might be unfair.
Physics are hard
Probably a bit older than 2000
Partially
The systems in-between do get upgrades. At least in Germany.
Assuming they ain't fibre by now.
Often it's just copper in the house, the rest of the system might be fibre anyway.
not really a win id say
still pretty low
What 250ms is over good spot
nah alot of asian players ive seen complain about 250+ ping
even then i see alot of people threading the line of ping about to get kicked
That's a step in the right direction, but far from a win.
150ms is already too laggy. 250 ain't doing jack.
Again, fraction of a second TTK with just about any weapon.
Allowing delays up to over 250 times of that is ridiculous.
If this fuckery would only mess up the laggers, it'd be fine. But it causes jank on both sides.
wait
We were at 200ms.
He upped it.
What the fuck
So it's actually worse now. Wow
I need to find someone to sell my key to.
🗿
I ain't going along with this lag fest.
Yeet
On EU servers I get like 160ms
You ask why do I even care?..gotta support my minority homies
If this game was for mid to high end pc I wouldn't even care for the ms bullshit...but oki made this game so most the pc can run it
So oki can't just give them a top tier game (minority) and say you are not allowed to play on these server....like hell we will let that happen.
