#Ground vehicles problems, especially armored ones.

Before I start I want to say that I am aware that some of this may seem like a bold and controversial statement, but please let me elaborate. And it is not an attack on devs in any kind, please don't misinterpret it like that, I think they are doing amazing work. I find those issues really in need of a touch up or improvement as soon after EA release as possible, because of their negative impact on the game, and the fact that the don't fit the overall quality of it.

Currently vehicles have quite an amount of really “weird” problems, made by dubious choices or some kind of oversight:

-Vehicle physics is weird. They seem to hover rather than move with contact to the ground. They also have a tendency to behave weirdly while colliding with other vehicles. By that I mean situations where front wheels can climb on other vehicles, and even whole vehicles can just drive over the other. This reminds me of RC cars.
During collisions with terrain, even at low speeds, they also tend to lift their rear or front wheels

-They sound really weird. Especially tracks of a tank. More like lego tracks than an actual track. But given the lack of sound designers/engineers among devs it’s fully understandable and acceptable.

-APC’s in particular strike me as unfinished project. They lack basic things like, color display, night vision, smoke of any kind, or thermal sight, making them “blind” in most cases, and literally at night. Shadows cast by building on a night map make some places pitch black on the display making it near impossible to see what is there.
And for some less striking/weird things:

-I don’t why it was made this way, but I am sure that thermal cameras behave very similarly during night and day, and they are not pitch black screens with brightly shown silhouettes of enemies, when in absence of light..
I can’t understand why it was made this way, but I suspect it has to do something with coding.

-Tank smoke screen is just a copy of a smoke grenade. One charge per 26 second cool-down that doesn’t even cover it very well. I want to propose adding proper smoke scenes to both tanks and APC.

-HE shells fall significantly short of the point they were aimed at, maybe it’s because of their decreased velocity sometime ago, but making them land where the player is aiming while retaining their lower speed seems like the proper solution.

just add proper sighting systems

a really, REALLY huge +1 from me
Cars are fine. They are pretty balanced. Quad bikes are fast but lack control, a simple bump on the road can make it jump lol
tanks are... fine, kind of. They work. Still, people can remove tanks just too easily
APCs on the other hand... they are terrible. Not only are they not suited for long range engagements (at all) because of their accuracy, you cant go into close range because guess what? everyone has a c4 and will literally oneshot you
and the worst part is, you literally wont be able to do anything because of the following:

  • vehicle movement and physics is TERRIBLE. They can get stuck at literally just rocky terrain, apcs' turrets suddenly jump up when you run over a vehicle
  • aiming is terrible because of the rotation speed limiter (which also for some goddamn reason does not change when you zoom in, thats literally stupid)
  • explosions work really weird because they are simple traces, so if there is a little bump between the explosion and a dude, he doesnt get damage at all, exactly the reason why tanks are so goddamn ineffective against infantrly
  • the lack of ability to adequately fix your vehicles. Now, yeah, theres the repair tool on the engineer and you know what? It is fine. It works great. But to use it, you have to leave the vehicle. And when you do, some other dude can basically just claim the vehicle. Another point is that when you need to resupply or if you want to repair the vehicle without leaving it, you have to drive all the way to the base, which can be quite god damn far given how huge the maps in 254 are. Some points on those maps really need maintenance boxes or whatever this shit is called

Oh, another one. If you go into water with a tank, even if its at a level barely lower than your tracks, you will literally get kicked out of it

#

This is stupid, this is too low to make a tank break or something

Oh and then someone else can steal it, once again
