I played drone for the first time for a few games and i helped my clan get quite a number of kills but i ultimately ended up with 5000 points contributed to my team despite contributing what i believe to be a quite significant amount
#spotting should give points for assist on kills or some sort of XP

not 100% sure but i believe when you spot someone with the drone it is only shown for your squad mates, also the pings remain stationary and tend to block the vision more then help find the enemy aside from the general direction
pings work a lot more like "look over there" then "the enemy is exactly here" so i guess the main use of the drone would be scouting while talking / writing with your squad / teammates to get real time information of what lies ahead since the gameplay is fast enough for pings to be obsolete after 1-2 seconds
