#New system for unlocking attachments and weapons, balancing around attachments etc.

Hello, I am quite new to battlebit and on my second playtest. I'd like to give my advice as a new player on how I believe the game could be improved regarding attachments and the issues around their unlocking and balance.

The first issue I would like to address is unlocking attachments, which is a major part of the game. I think the current system would be better suited for having a universal system for unlocking attachments for guns. Let me explain my reasoning by making many points.

  1. The current system for unlocking attachments doesn't encourage new players to try new guns. You end up having to focus on one gun to unlock attachments, then you have to grind again to unlock new attachments.
  2. Getting kills is difficult already for a new player when there is a skill gap. This is compounded when their weapons are not able to keep up, this discourages players and lowers new player retention.
  3. The current system doesn't reward supportive roles. Such as, Medics, Vehicle gunners, Anti-vehicle infantry, transportation, heli-gunners.
  4. This current system does not allow players whom have little time to play to experience all the game has to offer. (This could be fixed with a simple XP boost for your first hour played every day.)
  5. The current system has good retention if a player is already invested in the game. But it will likely not do well as the game matures and will likely keep casual players from playing.

This could be fixed by allowing points to be gained and used to unlock attachments for guns, while also allowing players to unlock through kills.

Attachments currently clearly have best picks. The main offender being grips. Why would anyone run a FAB-DTFG when they can run a vertical? Why run any the attachments that barely change stats any? They each need clearly defined roles or the roles that they are meant to be should be more defined.

Please feel free to add on to or point out anything that might seem incorrect, thank you for your time.

I agree with attachments, there's like 2 that's only being used, vertical or the b-urk grip for faster reload, the other grips aren't even being used, I always want to try them but then I just see, oh wow why should I use this? When I already have the vertical I got ages ago, like I have 700 kills with my asval and I'm still unlocking useless grips I will never use

#

Make literally no sense

#

There should be more iterations of the vertical grip that you get with way more kills that do something a little bit better other than vertical recoil

#

Or any other grip,

#

Theres only like 2-3 guns that really require a grip for horizontal but that still doesn't help it make it any better

While I am not a fan of grinding either, I don't think making any point gain contribute towards this is a good idea either.
This effectively just eliminates the need to actually use the weapons to "improve" them. At very least for Medic, all weapons that a Medic can access can be "fully unlocked" by simply healing and reviving people. Assault, for example, wouldn't even really have any other way but get kills, creating some unbalanced progression.

In the first place, those unlocks aren't all that important. A good sight is unlocked with about 10 kills, everything beyond that is a nice to have to allows you to slightly adjust your weapon to your preference. But it's really nothing to worry about.

#

As for point 4, that is fine.
There's already quite a few weapons to choose from right from the start. Overwhelming people with choices won't help them either.

But the current system discourages me to test new weapons out
There's an unlock system and it exists there for some reason, but I will only be able to play around with it only if I grind
And in the end grind doesn't even feel like progression, but a stagnation

Again, game locks me entirely out of a customisation system if I don't dedicate myself, which fills like a punishment for not grinding that one weapon

I kinda like insurgency style, whe you have everything unlocked from beginning.

Mb increase attachments limit with levelling?

#

Like, you can add one scope or grip at the start, but after some progress, you can get both and so on.

I said it last time this got brought up and I'll say it this time. Someone was born in the battle pass era lol. When I was younger getting attachments or skins in games was an accomplishment in COD 4 if you ran up on someone with a gold p90 you knew don't fuck with this guy because he doesn't fuck around. And when you got to that point you knew other players were looking at you the same way now. It's not a "grind" to play a game you like and if new players are discouraged by not having everything available at their fingertips in 5 hours playtime they should go play fortnight or something. There is no need to lower the barrier to entry for attachments other than a lot of you guys just don't seem to want to play the game without having what you consider to be OP weapons/attachments. point 3 makes sense though so good take on that one.

Lol, the most hilarious accusation I could have received, considering I neither have play a lot of multiplayer games nor I ever payed for the battle pass.
I want the game to give me functional stuff in the reasonable amount of time. You wish to have your golden skin for p90 or rainbow pony or skins that are a reference to your favorite game(halo, hitman, half life, whatever) and are locked behind 50k kills? More than fine by me! I completely agree that there can exist show off stuff, guess something like f you sight, for ppl that are really skilled and treat game like a job. But please, leave all normal content behind a bar high enough for an average player, because pro league is not the core base of any game to my knowledge, so attempts to appease them at the expense of most lead to fail(see R6S or Tarkov)

dude i have like 1k kills on my m4 and have everything except the FU sight. its not that much of a grind. 1000/20=50 so 20 kills a match with a gun it should take you 50 games to unlock everything, that's not a lot, 50 games is not a "grind" and as other people have pointed out basically all of the good attachments are around what 200 kills? so 10 games? if you cant put up at least 20 kills a game its a skill issue. and the attachments aren't going to do much for you at that point. it really just seams like you wanted to be handed all the attachments and guns because you're thinking well if I had that thing that guy has id be doing so good when in reality they are probably just a good player.

also "You wish to have your golden skin for p90 or rainbow pony or skins that are a reference to your favorite game(halo, hitman, half life, whatever) and are locked behind 50k kills?" i dont even like cosmetics nor any of the games you mentioned my point was that in older games coming across somebody with the best stuff told you this person is dedicated to this game. and it was a sense of pride when you showed off your really hard to get guns/attachments/whatever. and just the fact that you had those things struck fear into the hearts of your enemies. i get not everybody wants the same thing I'm just giving you my perspective on it just like you're giving me yours
