Hopefully this post picks up traction. It's just sad when you join midgame and are stuck with a 2-4 man squad when there are plenty of locked 6-8 man squads that were auto locked..

Playing as SL for majority of last playtest was kind of driving me crazy. Playing with friend in party automaticaly puts you in new squad, party leader becoming SL.
I'm not fan of locked squads(especialy with 2-4 peoples in them) and having to check for if squad is locked or not every couple minutes was becoming annoying chore.
Yeah, auto-lock makes no goddamn sense.

you can press "enter" when alive to open squad menu. but i agree. squads should not auto lock ever.

But hey if you want example: You've got sniper in squad, he is prone in good position, no one spotted him for how ever long while he is getting kills constantly, preventing enemy to capture point efficiently. People from my group know to NOT spawn on him. Random joins, spawns on that sniper, standing. Runs away, dies, spawns on him again. Effectively giving away his position each time he respawns.

the lock is mostly used by people to reserve space for they're friends to join ,an idea would be to put a timer of like 5 minutes or less so random players couldnt join right away and after they're friends will join and after the timer is up people could fill up the space and make a full squad of 8 then 3 squads of 3/3/2 ,or make it so friends will be placed in the same squad from start and if you want to go play againts eachother you can just leave the squad and join the enemy and play eachother.

Sounds unnecessary/redundant considering you and your friends can form party before joining game, which in turn will put you in same, new, squad with person initially forming the party becoming SL after joining server.
SL can at any point remove someone from squad, making space for their friend(s) who are late to the party to join.
Now that I think about it, your suggestion would make it even worse at the beginning of the game, since it would create situation where we have (on 127/127 servers) couple dozen of squads of 1-3 players.
Also, you can at any point manualy lock your squads.

Last time I've used that function it worked just fine. Last time being today at 3-6am playtest.

There is huge difference between when you choose to lock your squad and when it auto-locks.
If I only want to play with 3/4/5 players/friends in squad. I will lock it to prevent interference from randoms(as stated previously in this thread if you read it).
However when squad auto-locks just because it has reached max players and then when someone leaves, you're stuck with 7/8. More players will start to leave, you will suddenly only have 4/8 etc. Unless you're actively checking for the lock, and unlock it manualy, there will be dozen half-empty squads for no good reason.

Simple option would just to not have this system in place at all. There is literally no god damn reason for auto lock to happen. Like I said one too many times here, if I want to lock my squad, I will do it manually.

Gotta disagree.
I don't want randos spawn on me in some situations.
In some cases, I may even run a solo squad. This should not be changed.

Not everyone wants to serve as spawn for randos who play like they're 7.
