Hi there!
When you updated, what did you select would happen with the current files? If you picked 'store in an instance' that's why it seems like your progress is currently reset, that option stores away your current server and then starts a new server with the new version of the mod pack.
You can easily swap back though by going to the homepage of the control panel, then under 'instance' clicking swap, and selecting your previous one.
When you have that back and want to update your current world, you would pick 'install on top of current files'
i selcted Store existing files in an Empty Instance
Yes, that would be what I described happening. Your old files are stored away and you started a new instance, which is why it seems like your progress is reset
Load the old instance, then when you update select "on top of current files"
You click swap instance
If you swapped to your old instance before you clicked update again, you are now ready to update on top of existing files, yes
