#Backups during running BDS Server

Hey! 👋
I have a quick question regarding Minecraft Bedrock Dedicated Servers.

My server usually has around 10–20 players online, and the world size is already about 9–10 GB. I wanted to ask if it’s safe to create a backup through the control panel while the server is running, or if that could lead to an inconsistent world.

In other words — does your backup system perform a live mirror/snapshot of the world files, or would it be better to stop the server first before starting a backup to ensure data integrity?

I just want to make sure I don’t risk any corrupted chunks or data issues during live backups. Thanks a lot in advance for your help! 😊

The best bet is always to stop the server to ensure its not being written to by the server (The odds are low, but its possible you trigger a backup right when a user triggers an autosave)

I believe the backups are "snapshot" based; though that's a question for our Level 2 team as they manage that system with our Devs! Reach out to our team on the site and they can get it directed to get an answer 🙂

To TLDR though, always stop the server if you feel the need to take a manual backup ~ Though we have our automatics running every night as well!
