You'll receive an email with your server details and panel login once it's ready. Usually shouldn't take more then 30 minutes.

If you log into your billing panel using the account you made at checkout, you can see the status.

Pending is a result of one main state:

Clearing your purchase:

That "Incompatible FML" I think means your client does not match the server

The X can be ignored. Its a known bug that hasn't been fixed in Forge. If the error you get when logging in that would be more telling.

Double check that you're running the same modpack and version modpack as the server.

On a fresh install, you shouldn't need to be removing mods to make it work.
