#Internal exception: java . net . socketexception: connection reset

Hey, I was playing on my BisectHosting server with friends for 2 days, then suddenly while playing I received Internal exception: java . net . socketexception: connection reset and since then I receive that error every time I try and join. (friends can still join the server and play fine).
I tried a bunch of fixes I've seen on google, with no luck. Definitely restarted the game, pc, internet, reinstalled the modpack on my pc (Craftoria), firewall stuff, etc.

The interesting thing is that I can join the public EU Craftoria server and run around completely fine? but then my friends can still play on our server? So what is going on...

How to provide an MTR:

  1. Download the following MTR software: https://bisecthosting.com/clients/downloads/WinMTR.exe
  2. Where it says 'Host' type in your server's IP (without the port)
  3. Click the 'Start' button
  4. Wait for the very first number under the 'Sent' column to reach at least 500
  5. Click Stop
  6. Click the 'Copy Text to Clipboard' button and paste the results into a Pastebin (http://pastebin.com/) and provide us with the link.

Whatever that hop to 10.200.12.157 is, it's terrible. 125ms average. Your overall average latency is 228ms, which is fairly high, and there are some impressive spikes in there which means the connection is a bit unstable. For comparison, here's my ping results:

#

I must be much closer to the server (42ms avg).

#

Maybe someone more familiar with Minecraft latency sensitivity can comment.

It’s pretty likely to just be the route the ISP is taking to reach our machine, in these cases you can pop in a ticket and request to be moved to another location/machine which may aid it, otherwise checking in with your ISP regarding the route the MTR shows would be go to 🙌

i should have mentioned, it is a server 200~ ms away as thats where friends are based.
had a ticket with BH and the issue is solved, though it doesn't really make sense how. We wiped player data, created a new world, reinstalled the server modpack which I FIRST couldn't connect to, but after retrying, could then connect to, then loaded up the 12 hour old backup where the issue was happening, and it was working now.
a bunch of coincidences maybe?
Lets hope it stays working

Psst: Proactively recommending a specific VPN provider repeatedly starts to make Rule 7 itch. You may want to let people do their own research or ask "do you have one you'd recommend" in the future, please. 🙂

issues back, and the meshnet thing doesn't work - as pola_ mentioned.
a friend also experienced the issue a couple days ago.
We have never seen this issue before - starting to wonder if its somehow the modpack (craftoria) or Bisect... never had these issues when playing other modpacks on a different provider.

It's definitely connection related somehow, as our ping spikes into the 1000's when it happens, and why some people suggest VPN can be a temp fix.

Best thing is to check an MTR to see if it's network or modpack related.
