#Lower Server Ram without changing plan

I'd suggest running a spark profiler first when you experience lag issues as it is a great tool to diagnose where lag issues are potentially coming from
!spark
Spark
How to provide a Spark sampler.
- Stop your server.
- Download Spark: https://modrinth.com/mod/spark/versions
- Upload the mod to your server:
Filemanager > mods (for modded servers)
or Filemanager > plugins (for plugin based servers)
(Just drag & drop the file) - Start the server.
- Use the command /spark sampler
- Wait 10-15 minutes.
- Use the command /spark sampler --stop
Otherwise, you'd have to make a support ticket. They might be able to set the max ram lower in the startup commands (something you cannot edit yourself) but I don't know if that's something they actually do or not, you'll have to ask them

thank you for the quick reply! just curious - we have a server with 6 - 12 players that fluctuates with an avg of 8 on at most times. How much ram is usually suggested? we are playing a cobblemon modpack with 160 mods and have some automatic farms and stuff
we currently have 16gb ram for 5 players
is this too much
i have 2gb for 15 render distance and i set it down to 10 render distance when we have 5+ people which is very rare
soo
16gb is prolly not needed
Do you have the same modpack as OP?
Most of the Cobblemon packs recommend 6GB minimum. Some won't even start at 2GB.
The best way to know if it's too much is a Spark report.
probably not
i use paper
and im pretty sure i dont have the minimum req but it still works soo
Modpacks have wildly different requirements than Paper. Some will not run with a simulation distance over 10 or player count over 8 - hard stop.
