what do i do? it says my server is up and running on the bisect website but it doesnt work on minecraft

do i need to run the mod and then type the server in there? or can i type in the server on vanilla minecraft and it still work?

for reference: i am using the From the Fog mod on java minecraft

You must run the same mods/modpack as the server to connect.
