Hi, so I watched the video to upload a server onto bisecthosting. However the video I watched was really vague and not super helpful. I made a modpack with my friends and now I don't know how to upload it. I have WinSCP and CyberDuck, and I have it as a zip file. I would really like it if I could get some help with this because I would love to play with my friends on this modpack. Thank you.

you beat me to it!
Also, careful watching videos you found outside the Bisect website - anything Minecraft related over a year old is for a panel they've moved away from, and only a handful of of customers still use.
ok thank you!
yeah it was 2 years old the video so
makes sense why it might not have worked
ok so, ive tried to follow it and it still doesn't seem to work
so ive just restarted with a new version to see if it'll add stuff
but the only file in it is customforge1.17.jar
also which one should i do?
also this is what my winscp looks like rn and im not sure if it should be empty?
^this is for the server side
If the modpack offers a server pack you do the download.
Start with the Prerequisite at the top.
ok so it isnt a featured one
so i do the local option?
which ive tried and it didnt work
im probably doing something wrong since ive never done this before
I didn't say featured - I said a server pack. It's usually on the "Additional Files" part of CurseForge, or other locations if it's hosted elsewhere.
ohhh
so i'll have to get it approved by curseforge for it to work then? and then once then i can use it on bisect?
No.
I was telling you where to look to see if this modpack you downloaded has a server pack.
oh no i didn't download it, i made it myself as a modpack
Oh!
i think thats where the confusion is sorry
Then you get to make the server pack.
alright
You're the pack author. 🙂
Welcome to modpack development! Here's the deep end of the pool, there is no shallows.
So yes, you need to follow the Local option. And in the first couple steps if you're using a launcher like CurseForge, Modrinth, Prism, etc. just right-click and hit the "Show Files" or "Open Files" or whatever instead of using the Run menu.
im running forge
Okay, but you can build a modpack on top of Forge (the modloader, which is entirely unrelated to CurseForge the file hosting site and launcher) using any launcher.
And likewise, you can use any modloader, not just Forge, using the CurseForge launcher.
alrighty ill give this a shot
ok i have a server file now from forge!!!
so now do i put that onto bisect?
Yup - follow those steps. Pick the right modloader first (Forge, it sounds like.)
alright
OMG IT SAYS STARTING
thank god
ok so now i have to get the mods onto the server
Don't forget to reset the world once the mods are in place so you get all your worldgen.
so i dragged and dropped the mods into the mods folder onto the server
If you changed any configurations, you'll want the configs folder, too.
and i also wanted to run resource packs, how would i do that?
alright
alright
If it were a vanilla or plugin server, you can have it go "hey, download this resource pack over here!", but for modded it's easier to just include it in the modpack itself.
alright yeah
so if i have resourcepacks and shaders on the modpack profile it should be there?
Should not be on the server.
You can include them in the export you give to your players.
Server doesn't have a GPU - it doesn't need textures or shaders.
Check the Console.
If you've got shaders, most likely the shaders mod (Iris, Oculus) got on the server and is getting confused by the lack of GPU.
Correct - they go on the client side, not server. 🙂
Continuity gets the heave-ho.
Then try again and see what complains next.
ohhhh ok!
wait where is the client side part?
!llogs ⬇️ The actual files are easier to read.
Please send some logs over so we can help resolve your issue. To access logs on your Minecraft server, please navigate to your server panel's File Manager and take the following path:
1. Open the Server's File Manager
2. Navigate inside the 'logs' folder
3. Click on "latest.log" to download it and send the file over Discord to this channel.
That isn't latest.log.
huh
All the way at the bottom.
That's why latest.log is in quotes instead of "the latest log". 🙂

Yup. This is a wash, rinse, repeat operation.
Should be an Export somewhere in your launcher. Play with that until you get an export that has what you want.
alright
