59 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
I'm trying to load up my modpack
my server didnt come with a mods folder so i added one myself
nothing changed
i tried replacing all the files with forge server files
nothing changed either
I am launching it from curseforge, could that be cause?
According to that log, the server is running PaperMc, not anything modded.
If its a popular pre-existing modpack, try installing it through the Jar Menu.
If its a custom pack, check out this article for installing the right modloader and uploading the modpack files.
!custommodpack
I followed the instructions for custom modpack
i still cant get in
but something new popped up
This server is running Paper
This log is still not from a modpack.
should I get the latest log from the control panel or from the modpack folder?
From the logs folder on the server.
At the top of that custommodpack article are links on how to install a modloader, forge/fabric. Make sure you're doing that first before adding your mods/config files.
i'm trying to start the server now as a test after switching from papermc to forge
do these usually take long this long?
it's been at 49% for 30 minutes now
the custom modpack that i have has 67 mods if that helps
As long as it keeps pumping out lines and that number goes up, it just means something in the pack makes world generation super slow.
Running a Spark report while running world generation would help to narrow down what.
!spark
Spark
How to provide a Spark sampler.
- Stop your server.
- Download Spark: https://modrinth.com/mod/spark/versions
- Upload the mod to your server:
Filemanager > mods (for modded servers)
or Filemanager > plugins (for plugin based servers)
(Just drag & drop the file) - Start the server.
- Use the command /spark sampler
- Wait 10-15 minutes.
- Use the command /spark sampler --stop
!worldgen
Minecraft 1.14 onwards, generating chunks can be very resource-intensive and cause a lot of lag for players with forge installed, we recommend installing a mod on the server called World Pregenerator (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/world-pre-generator). Using this mod with the right commands will enable your server to perform better over time as more chunks are created.
The mod is only required to be installed server-side. To install it, upload it to your server's mods folder and restart your server.
Please run the following commands to start the world generation while players are offline:
/pregen gen minecraft:overworld start 0 0 500
The above commands will generate everything within an 8000 block radius of spawn in the overworld. You can run this command for each world you want to pregenerate.
Please note that you will experience lag while this happens, so try to run it while people are not on :)
i downloaded both mods and it does go online now but i can't get in
it keeps timing me out
this log says your server is running out of memory
should i try removing some mods?
or throw money at it and get more ram.
is this a custom mod pack, ie not one that is premade?
yep
excellent
so use server pack creator to make a server from the mod pack you built on your pc, and test it locally before uploading it to bh.
there is a wiki if you find it confusing.
you can watch in your task manager how much ram your server is using.
and then decide from there if you want to increase the ram of the server at bh, or if you should remove a ton of mods from your pack.
alright thank you
how many mods are in the pack?
the latest.log doesn't say
do note that a modded server, no matter what, requires a 4GB server
and typically never more than 10GB
around 57 mods
what size server?
I feel like you're trying to do this on the 1 or 2GB plan
Minecraft as of 1.14+ requires 2GB for itself.
i am yeah-
it's just for me and my friend group of 5
i'll try that rn
ask your friends for some quarters
