when i try and connect to the sftp is says ENOTFOUND. but i can connect on winscp fine

Make sure you're using sftp and not ftps. Both are valid protocol names, but BH only supports sftp.

Oh Visual Studio Code. The letter order is what was tripping me. I was thinking "they can't mean VS Code; is this some 'Voice Chat' Studio thing?..."

Yea, I have to routinely walk my server team through connecting to the back end via ssh in vsc.
