Me and my friends bought a budget server to play BCG+ on.
The version has changed from 28.1 to 2.9.1 since then and from there on we have been trying to update the modpack manually.
We have tried to replace the "config", "libraries", "mods", "resourcepacks" folders and the server.jar. Whenever we have tried that the server hasn't even opened. Once i only replaced the config and resourcepacks folders and the server was able to open, but when trying to join with the new version it doesn't let us and says the versions are missmatched.

Because the mods folder is critical.

If the version of Forge didn't change, you don't have to touch the server jars.

#

You're using the server pack to update the server, not the client? Most servers don't have a resourcepacks folder.

we found this in the BCG discord server, but it still wouldn't work, it was the instance where the server did run but when we tried to join it said the server and our client weren't on the same versions

This isn't standard, hence why the presence of a resourcepacks folder was confusing.

There are, for most modpacks, a separate Server Pack distribution from what you install locally.

That is what you're using to upgrade the server, yes?
