Outdated server means the version of the server (in this case 1.7.10) is older than the version of the client you're trying to join with.
You can't join a 1.7.10 server with a 1.12.2 client, for example. Versions have to be samesies.
(Unless you use a plugin like Via-version, that modifies game packs so that you can join with different versions).
