if the fluid is kubejs:example_fluid what would the block ID for the source be?

i think it will be: kubejs:example_fluid_still and kubejs:example_fluid_flow you can also check with F3 though

F3 shows the fluid ID I think

if F3 shows the block ID then it would be kubejs:example_fluid for the source

aren't fluids just kubejs:example_fluid[level=0] for sources and kubejs:example_fluid[level=<1-15>] for flowing as blocks? as in, same block id but different state?

yes you're correct got confused with textures probably xd. if it's the source block it doesn't have a level nbt tag else 7-1 by default.
