#Detect Potion Running Out

When building a mob effect, you can define an effectTick but from what I can tell there's no clear way to detect when the potion ends. I'm trying to make a potion effect that grants a player flight, and need to remove it once it runs out. Is there a good way to do this without just checking every X tick(s)? Similar to a post I made earlier, I assume forge events would have this covered but unfortunately that is not available on fabric :P
