It would be nice to have a button that set FFWD to 16x (or maybe a customizable max speed) until the controlled character's current task is complete, at which point the speed either returns to 1x or pauses. The primary function of this would be to make time management both ingame and IRL easier by requiring slightly less attention for managing the game speed during installations/repairs/etc.

Definitely agree. While it is fun honing reflexes watching progress bars at 16x, having something akin to the PDA timer speed reset would be very convenient.
