I've been searching without luck for any reference to the following popping up preventing gameplay at app launch...

Any ideas? I've tried verify game files and reinstalling from Steam with no luck. No mods.

Ok... bloody ancient mods. I burned everything, because I remembered that Steam won't 😉

All better now... I was able to glimpse that right at launch in the console the debug log was referencing Mods, so I stopped trusting Steam so much. Manual removal of old game dir under Steam library and fresh install brought the resolution.
