I saw this bug recently! I think it stopped on its own and I can't remember why if it did. Though "no matter how early the save" makes me curious if you've started a completely new game while testing for this.

I loaded my oldest auto save and it still happened

Right, you said "no matter how early the save." That's not the same thing as making a new save

You are right. That doesn't happen in the new save.

It resolved itself after scavanging around some derelectics.

I started getting this as well, and it's my first time playing the game I was about 6 to 7 hrs into my game when it happened.

Does this persist after reloading the Ostranauts APP? or do the duplicates disapear when you reload the game?

The tried and true reload clears out the bug for me.
