which means that legendaries defusing into individual legendaries that represent the individual concepts that said pokemon represented while combined is not an entirely kyurem-reshiram-zekrom thing. it means that it could straight up just be another thing that legendaries can just do.||

I'm not saying the theory is correct, i'm just saying that it does make sense.

The anime is one big interconnected story. If, let's say Cynthia for example, returned in the SwSh anime suddenly unable to Mega Evolve her Garchomp, that would be a continuity error. They would have to somehow explain it out of the show (for example, making it illegal to use Mega's within Galar) and even then, Mega's would still exist within the anime world. If they just got rid of it without an explanation, that, and i'm reiterating here, is a continuity error.

The games aren't interconnected outside of like, a couple reoccurring characters, and that's flimsy at best all things considered. They don't need a reason to keep a gimmick from returning (some do - Galar being the only place you can Dynamax because it's the only place with the right energy, thanks to Eternatus) because it doesn't cause a continuity error - all the games are their own stories.
