While fair, if we just took nothing seriously then what's even the point of any of this. The whole reason the community functions like it does is built off of rules, I don't feel that the "well it's for fun" mentality should dominate here. My local Magic tournaments are run for fun, yet they still have rules and rewards.

It's one of those things where if there was a rule I'd be happy, but in the meantime I'd definitely just view it as something done in bad faith, even if it doesn't break rules.
