GSC and HGSS both have a notoriously bad level curve, so the remake didn't fix that. Same goes for the pokemon disparity with lots of cool 2G mon locked behind the postgame in GSC... which the remake tried to fix weirdly by putting them all in a new Safari zone in Johto.
But HGSS fixed some issues, mostly due to being a """modern""" game compared to GSC: lot of QoL stuff such as the PC/menu navigation (trying to use the PC was awful during the first 2 gen), better sprite and animation (according to others, I'm still a sucker for the GSC sprites), the legendaries are more fleshed out in the remake...

I think people are mostly referring to:

• The Ecruteak crossroad. From there you can access both Olivine and Mahogany, each having a similar level (15~20), but if you do the whole trip Olivine > Cianwood, you'll be completly overleveled for the Mahogany quest (still hitting lvl ~20 when you're reaching +30)
• A lack of place to xp grind during postgame, you can't even lvl up properly before fighting the hidden boss

Huh, surprisingly I don't have played a lot of fangames that goes past gen 5, so I can't recommend many of them.

• Reborn goes up to Gen 7, but has mods to include Gen 8, Eeveelution for every type and apparently Gen 9 (I just learned about it lmao, time to restart). In the base game only 1 fakemon is playable iirc, so you'll play with the official mons during the whole game.
  Though be warned, this one is kinda hard for a pokemon (mostly because, unlike the main games, the level cap is actually relevant)

• Rejuvenation goes up to Gen 8, but it's been a while since I played it. The game is unfinished, but there's still a lot of content (80+ hours, side quests excluded according to their website). Same as before there are some fakemons, but none of them are playable.

• Realidea System, I can't really vouch for that one since I'm still playing it. There's a whole Rowlet Gang so it should include Gen 7, but I found out that some regional forms are missing so the whole dex might not be there. I already talked about it before and said it has some translation issues, but nothing unplayable afaik.
  Doesn't seem it has a lot of fakemons, but it still has some (3 starters, 2 special evolutions and 2 legendaries so far in my game, and I'm already at the E4).
  Also I couldn't find any wiki, so good luck if you want to find any information about the game.

• Empyrean, I planned to play this game so I can't vouch for it either. Goes up to Gen 8, has a lot of fakemons and regional forms.

• Xenoverse, didn't play this one either. According to the wiki the dex goes up to Gen 9, but not every pokemon of each gen is included. Same as before, lots of fakemons included.

well, what if, in another region or some such, there was a line that was, for some reason, fire starting out, then gained the Poison type as it evolved, and eventually became a Pirate themed pokemon, sporting an Eyepatch, captain's hat, and peg leg at the Delphox stage of evo?
in braixen stage,it also has the eyepatch, and it uses it's stick as a sword more or less, and has a little vial of poison it is known for coating the sword in, and it's the stage it first gains the poison typing
in the final stage of Delphox, the stick is now it's peg leg, and it has an actual sword, or possibly a hand-cannon.

was considering making it a fairy/poison instead of fire poison, but didn't
also came up with a potential mega or some such, which is a ghost/fire and is themed around the ghost stories of undead pirates

• Emerald Rogue, kinda different from the usual romhacks/fangames since this is a roguelike.
• Prism, a fangame with the GSC style (I freakin' love the oldschool sprites)
• The Kaizo trilogy (Blue, Crystal and Emerald), recommended if you do not value your life
• Unbound, I never played this one but heard it was good
• Crystal Clear, which is basically an open world of Crystal
• Clover, aka Pokemon 4chan version. Don't ever go near this game if you're easily offended because that's the whole point of this rom (Jews, nazism, feminism, pee pee poo poo jokes...). Though you gotta admit, it is really well made (the whole dex is made of fakemons with obscur references)
• Blaze Black/Volt White are basically enhanced versions of Black/White. I think the same thing exists for B2/W2.

I wanted to do a challenge in Gen 3 where I beat the game using May's pokemon from the Anime but I can't trade in an emulated version of Emerald for Bulbasaur and Squirtle and Munchlax doesn't appear till gen 4

Some dude name Josh732 brought his hitmontop to a gardevior raid.
He also decided to dynamax it.
I, however, brought a copperajah, which can not only gigantamax but is the exact weakness needed to kick the gardevoir to the curb.
Josh's hitmontop used earthquake, even though a few minutes ago Gardevoir traced the computer's solrock's levitate ability.

the only way you're getting an ursaluna is through a trade

luckily, getting basculegion and sneasler is easier

basculegion requires you to accumulate a lot of recoil damage and sneasler is a razor claw during the day

as for better remakes, Lets Go Eevee is the way to go.

i played a bit of unbound. felt weird when i realized that the rng during battles was set long before you do said battles

in some fights i was guaranteed to get frozen on turn 3 and crit on turn 5, even if i reloaded a save, battled other wild pokemon and trainers and did quests to attempt to reset the rng array, but it doesn't work

to my understanding radical red does that too
