Using the head Pokémon's colour palette is the generally accepted convention, however using the body's colours, a mix of both or something entirely different is an acceptable artistic choice, as long as it is still clear which Pokémon is the head and which is the body of the fusion.

Also , if you're wondering where the shell of lapras is, it's literally floating next to the wings, which are also floating by themselves like ultra necrozma. I also didn't want to have to resize a 96x96 INTO a 288x288, so I just CREATED a 288x288, so I have more room to fit everything

I personally think the only problem with my fusion, as if the shell were to go on the body, where would the heads go? But again, ultra necrozma's body proportions, mess with that rule a little bit.

Trying to do an Swampfire/Terraspin fusion, any suggestions about the neck?

The idea was for a body more similar to Addwaitya's, with more humanoid arms, where the appendages that would form the propellers would be coiled like a bulb behind the carapace. Then, when necessary, this flower would dissolve and connect to the limbs, creating the propeller, where, in addition to blowing wind, with the powers of the swampfire, it could launch an extremely powerful fire blast or just combustion gas.

A lot to like here! There are a few things I think could be helpful - it's unclear where the point of focus of the piece is. Part of this could stem from it being unclear where the chief source of light is coming from. The layering of the darks (trees etc.) is very nice. The intent from what I can tell is to have the main light source here be coming from the direction of the viewer, with the secondary light reflected off the water by the moon. The light, perhaps, feels a bit too much like it's being cast head-on from our perspective. I think the main point of attention is the stretching cat here, based on how it's framed? Helps to check in grayscale every so often.

When posting (not working on it) you upscale the sprite by 3x (288x288) for visibility and the game files

You should start by downscaling the art you’ve already made to 96x96, it’s a great start

to contribute to the tracing conversation, most of my "big" digital art pieces rely on a lot of tracing. but i always make sure i either take the photo myself or only use images that are in the public domain or have creative commons 0 liscences. this piece for example, I took a picture of a house and then used a warp tool on it, and then I traced that to get the lines and shadows and stuff.

yeah! obviously it depends on the person too but I think it can be more of a thing of finding (or making!) the right label for yourself, something that describes but doesn't limit you, that's why I like the more vibes- and aesthetic- based xenogenders, they're much less box-y :D

plus, whimsy is coming at a premium these days so you gotta get it where you can, whimsy deficiency is a real problem /j /lh

Actually, now that you mentioned it, your comment inspired me to figure out the whole concept of the evolutions as a whole: They will evolve into the exact opposite of their original final evos.
For example, the final evo, "Divanarch", will be a speedy fragile attacker/support rather than a bulky special attacker.
The rest are as follows:
Fennekin will evolve into a pop punk knight with high attack and defense but ass special attack/defense and speed.
Snivy will evolve into a frickin' BEEFY brawler and special attack drummer
and Yamper (yes, Yamper. I'll explain when we get there) will evolve into a support tank
