Yeah the premise of my DnD campaign is that Team Fusion, an evil team run by a certain person who took the dregs of Grunts from disbanded evil teams and started to painfully fuse pokemon together.... the whole thing is for a group of 10-15 year old PCs to go through Kanto battling gyms and dealing with Team Fusion.

I've actually been working on my own system for a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon type DND system. Once I work out all the kinks, anything with video game stats would be able to be used in the system (so even fake mons or the fusions in this game would work).

I want to use PTU and PTA, but I find that, at least for me, tracking more than one mon per player is tough (granted, I've mostly played DND with my friend's kids, and they are all under the age of 12).

Oh I can track the teams easy, I made it easy for myself to track them, but I've always played with older players who knew dnd mechanics better than me. I also use Milestones for leveling rather then EXP

Makes sense. I'm trying to find the right balance of replicating the calculations from the video games and yet reducing them for in-person role play.

The premise seems to work. My average-9-years-old group seemed to get a kick out of being pokemon and dealing with exploring a fantasy world. Though, the older one of the girls (11) playing nearly cried at the end of a session because the youngest (5) "won" the session (she rolled so high that she could talk down a raging Garbodor with a "You smell bad") and the other "got a trash boyfriend" (a Trubbish that became infatuated with a different character because they were covered in grime and berry juice when they crashed into a pile of berries).

If you want to make a custom sprite for the game, you need to work at a really low resolution. 96x96

96x96 is the canvas size, but we don't necessarily need to fill it up. Using official sprites for size references is almost always your best best. 🙂
