I did that and the game opened up. I did get a message stating something to the effect that updated control were copied and I needed to close out and restart the game to have them work. So, I selected okay. Then the game got to the start menu, I tried going up and down but nothing happened. Again only if I hold down shift I can move up and down.

Not sure if this could have caused the issue, but when i was at the step where wineskin winery and created a blank new wrapper, I did the steps as you stated. But when the wrap was complete, I clicked on it but it got stuck. I then saw there was an update in wineskin. So I updated wineskin and re-did the steps to create a new wrapper. Once the new wrapper was created I was able to access the game. Perhaps this caused my issue

It is possible, but that would be up to Frogman. If users use the App Installer vs the batch file, this won't be an issue anymore since the App installer prevents you from even opening preloaded until you install the sprites

Yes, the more sprites the better the performance. But you are only able to play preloaded if you install ALL of the sprites

so custom sprites and auto gen sprites would be included anyways

my rival's starter suddenly changed, update man can't fix anything, he went from Squirtle/Charmander to Metagross/Venusaur, the rest of his team is normal. playing on classic mode, I randomized wild encounters, didn't touch trainers. Just booted up the game the next day without touching the settings and it suddenly changed

I tried reshuffling trainers but it says that you have to randomize first in order to reshuffle

The only way to fix this is by getting your save file to investigate this. There isn't a known bug at the moment of this happening so there isn't an easy fix or telling what triggered this to happen in the first place.

Hey @rustic junco! Are you having trouble starting the game? If you're getting the "missing Game.ini" error, your game is not finding its necessary folders for some reason. Here's a list of things that may fix the issue:

1. Make sure that you have extracted the files from the ZIP, and aren't running the game straight from the zipped folder.
2. Make sure the game.exe file is in the folder with everything else. You might've moved it while trying to make a shortcut or something.
3. Rename the folder with the extracted files to a name without numbers or special characters, e.g. "PokemonInfiniteFusion".
4. Move the entire folder somewhere else on your computer. Moving it to the desktop seems to work for most people.
5. Redownload and re-extract the game in full.

Hey @rustic junco! Are you having trouble downloading the game? You can find the download of the game in #downloads! To run it, simple unzip all of the files into a folder, then click the .bat file. Be mindful that the game takes a few minutes to load, don't touch the black window before it does!

I dont think so no. I did change the randomization settings in the game but never saved so i assume the game would go back to the having no randomization. That is when i started having issues with opening the save?

yeah when you make randomizer changes, it overrides files in your game files even if you didn't save. So then there would be a conflict since you have randomized encounter tables and a save file that isn't expecting to be randomized. Reinstalling might solve the error since it would revert back to vanilla settings

One of which the save does work which i believe is the Dynamic version and the other instance of the game where the save file does work but I dont think is the dynamic version... Hey @unkempt aspen! This game is not made for mobile! The only workaround is to install JoiPlay, but any performance issues, bugs, or issues with Android are not fixable. No dedicated mobile version of IF will be developed in the future.

DO i need to install all of the custom sprites ahead of time now or is there a dynamic option where it will check for new custom sprites everytime i open the game?

Hey @unkempt aspen! Are you trying to add more custom sprites to your game? You can find the most up to date sprite pack containing all custom sprites in #downloads! To add them to your game, simply copy all the files into your game's CustomBattlers folder. The pack also contains alts and things such as joke sprites and regional variants, which you can also add to your game if you wish.

You can swap between alts of a given fusion in-game, using the Pokédex!

the game by default is dynamic. Reinstalling would mean you have no sprites at the moment. You can use the option from the installer to Install Custom sprites to download them all at once if youd like

yep, this fusion only has the AI generated sprite, it doesnt have a custom yet (sorry, had to search for the pokemon, didnt know which pokemon "wear" is, its magmortar/bewear fusion)

youre welcome, most of the time its a internet time out and the game cant download the sprites, usually resetting (in this case download missing sprites off and then on again fixes that) 🙂

Certified nerd here; % loads can be very deceiving as we've been conditioned to think "if it isnt at 100%, why doesnt it use whats left to run better? it can use more right?"

in reality, many things can be happening. Some games dont work well with multi-threading. resulting in maxed out loads on some cores, and nothing on others.

practically, you are at 100% (of the cores you are using optimally). but the % load will show maybe 15% because of all the leftover cores the game cannot use.

Something similar is likely happening here, but slightly different. PIF is difficult to run because of the nearly 500k files it has to read/scan. meaning that read/write speeds will be one of the most important specs, which is often not reported in % based load overviews

Playing on Steam Deck: I’m trying to update the game, and it’s not working.

I’ve watched the guide Megaman put out for Steam deck, and when he launches q4wine it launches a different window than what he had.

I did it before and it worked properly then; my only guess is that between then and now I moved the folder for the game to an SD card. Would that mess with it somehow? And if so, how do I work around that to properly run the .bat file? (I never used wine before this.)

Update: I figured that it may be a pathing issue to run the program since I moved the game’s folder to an SD card. I tried pathing it properly to the .bat update file and the folder, but now I am getting a “the command is invalid” message

After a while it became too laggy so I moved it onto the main SSD but now it won't link the save file and I already put quite a few hours in. I watched the video showing where the save file would be but it's not there. Which I suspect is because I started it on the external SD card

unfortunately Steam Deck creates folders and names them differently for every user and every app so it isn't the same for you and me

Hi There, I'm the person from yesterday who had the issue where I am only able to move around or scroll through things if I hold down the shift key. I deleted/uninstalled everything and re-did the steps from your video. Unfortunately, this didn't solve the issue and I still need to hold down the shift key if I want to move around or scroll through the menu. I did learn a couple things though. First, holding shift and pressing the arrow keys would move me fast/trubo speed. Second, if I hold the option button and the arrow key I can walk around or scroll in the menu if I have it open. I know from yesterday we were unable to get to a conclusion as to what was going on since this is the first time you heard of this issue. Thus, I'm not sure what can be done but I'm open to hear what you think

yeah that is very interesting. Shift is also the RUN button so that might be why your character moves faster also. Yeah I am totally stumped. This has never happened. The game is developed primarily for Windows only, so any mac issues like this can't be fixed from our end, but I still suspect it is something computer related somewhere but I wouldn't know where to begin.

I completely understand. I'll keep looking into this to see if I can find anything out. But, even with having to hold down either the shift or option button I can still play the game. The only thing I could think of is when I opened the game for the first time after the install, it gave a message about updated controls or changes to controls, and to implement them I needed to close out of the game and restart it. Not sure if that message is indicating something that could be the cause. Also, that message only appears when I launched the game for the first time and it didn't appear I could do anything other than close out of the message box. Not really sure what could be done regarding this, but like you said it could be something on my end and my computer. But, anyway thank you for your assistance.
