I'd say Serene Grace for sure, that would get access to Poison Jab/Sludgewave for poisoning from Tentacruel and Air Slash from the fairy side.
Could argue that toxic is better than those Tentacruel moves, but the flinching is hard to pass up.

I wouldn't want to use Poison Jab. If I do Serene Grace, then I want Sludge Bomb. I could also maybe do Water Pulse or Sweet Kiss or a similar move if I wanted to try confusion.

Actually Aura Sphere is probably really good if my two main attacks are Sludge Bomb and Air Slash

Well... I typically have a basic setup of... 1 guy for many things (the Magnfairy.), 1 guy to stall (Vilesaur or Chanking), 4 DD's.
That's why I don't stick to just 6 guys, I sort of swap guys out for a bit when something comes up they can't deal with.
Like my pure grass starter was pretty ineffective on Koga. Thankfully, the Porygar laughed as he soloed through it. 😃

I don't think that way because I rarely do repeated playthroughs of games. I play one time, maybe watch someone else play, then I stop. If I do try to replay, I tend to get in like 10% game progress before I go 'meh'

Wouldn't a Bulbasaur(face)/Beedrill be Grass/Poison? I'm guessing your friend has a Beedrill/Bulbasaur, which is Bug/Grass. DNA Reversers are available later in the game. They can reverse the order of the fusion without needing to unfuse and refuse the mon.

Do I use Steelix/Hitmonlee, or Butterfree/Hitmonlee? Steelix gets better stats, but Butterfree gives me compoundeyes so I can have 100% accurate highjumpkick
I think having perfect accuracy on some lower hit moves could be fun to have on a pokemon, so I might try butterfree/hitmonlee

The Hitmons are notable for their really high SpDef, so I'm naturally drawn to the Hitmonlee/Steelix combo
But Butterfree has some cool tricks, and High Jump Kick really benefits from it. You can always fuse Steelix with something else

I don't have an onix, but I'm right next to mount moon so I was considering it
another issue with Butterfree/hitmonlee is that with butterfree head it gets a 4x flying weakness
but it is a good deal faster
at 81 speed, opposed to ~40 with steelix
but a 100% accurate stone edge can take care of any flying mon it outspeeds/survives

I believe that's been changed recently. It used to be a Magnet Stone, but I think now you just have to level it up around the Power Plant? Which is why you're now allowed to walk there instead of needing surf?

Only issue I have with Blissey is that if you dont pair it with a REALLY powerful attacker (and even sometimes when you do...) you get a staller.
