A villain from Justice League crossed dimensions, grouping the Justice League and RWBY trapped in the simulation. It's all fucky with magic technology, but it's just the matrix, but Justice League in Remnant.
The second movie takes place after volume 9, in DC universe, with RWBY crossing in their dimension. The movies are not accurate adaptations of the two comics, but the movies are probably better.
But it's VERY clear the second movie suffered from lack of communication with the writers and animators, and suffered rewrites. Enjoyable as a RWBY fan, but I can't call it "great" by any means.||

Gengar is a pretty good option too considering Gengar as the head gives it the Ghost/Dark type, allowing it to switch in easier due to the types defensive merit, combined with a very broad special moveset

Just don't use both Ghost and Dark attacks as they're redundant offensively
