In most cases fusing mons doesn't even produce a stronger mon either, because of how the stat calculation works.
What your looking for with fusions is specific traits that when combined make the mon more powerful. Like a specific ability paired with a typing, or to give a species more coverage.

Grass naturally has a lot of weaknesses to balance out its huge utility, resistances to common attacking types, and immunity to powder moves.
The best typings to mix with it are things that either work to cover eachother's weaknesses, or pair well with it offensively. Best three are probably Grass/Fire, Grass/Poison, and Grass/Steel.
