Mons

#

Glimmora as example

#

Otherwise the other two don’t get much value

clear lichen
#

I do like most of the Paradox Mons from a casual standpoint

#

And tbf only Fucker Mane annoys me competitively

grave jolt
#

With how offense oriented IF is I've never really gotten to use T-Spikes well

clear lichen
#

That said it also annoys me casually

#

I FUCKING HATE FLUTTER MANE

median fox
clear lichen
#

Iron Hands makes me sad for another reason than you probably

#

WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE PHYSICAL STAB MOVES

#

WHY IS SUPERCELL SLAM A FUCKING JUMP KICK CLONE AND NOT A HJK CLONE

grave jolt
#

I keep reading T-spikes as "thunder spikes" which makes me think of a version that makes non-ground pokemon Paralized instead

median fox
clear lichen
#

I complain about this like every day

#

And I'll continue complaining about it, too

#

Because holy shit Supercell Slam was a chance for physical Electric types to get a physical move that isn't ass

#

And it simply was dogshit

median fox
#

I just don’t like how iron hands is kinda just
Now a default trick room mon and if your not bringing him your missing out cause he’s that strong in it that it’s like a pseudo restricted

grave jolt
#

Forgot electroweb existed

median fox
#

He’s like flutter in that regard

median fox
clear lichen
median fox
#

It’s just not worth it
I replace it with volt switch a lot cause
Like
Fuck it lets give the super strong trick room mon and stab switch out move

clear lichen
#

Is it worse than Wild Charge though?

#

Hmm...

median fox
#

Kinda yea

clear lichen
#

Idk they're both utterly ass

median fox
#

I’ll see wild charge
I won’t see the other one ever

clear lichen
#

It's like comparing Singles Dusknoir and Singles Dusclops

median fox
#

That’s the difference really

clear lichen
#

Like why are you doing that they're both so ass

#

Compare like actually somewhat relevant Pokemon like Chansey and Blissey

median fox
clear lichen
#

I've found like

#

1 time for each where I can comfortably say one is better

grave jolt
#

Wildcharge vs supercell slam

clear lichen
#

And everything else they're both so bad that I find 0 conclusive evidence

clear lichen
median fox
#

The accuracy is the reason charge gets used on iron hands

clear lichen
#

They're also like

grave jolt
#

Zebstrika can learn both

clear lichen
#

Yknow how Typhlosion, Hitmontop and Electivire get used in tiers they don't belong a shitton?

median fox
#

Nope

clear lichen
#

Yeah both Dusknoir and Dusclops experience that too

#

So they get stuck in tiers where they're unviable

#

Other examples include NatDex Mega Banette (until recently) and NatDex Mega Beedrill

median fox
#

Dusclops makes a sense cause
Eviolite can actually make him. Real pokemon on the right team but singles is weird

clear lichen
#

Dusclops and Dusknoir's comparisons are like

#

The best way to show how fraudulent of an item Eviolite is in Singles

#

Because genuinely it doesn't fucking matter they're both worthless

grave jolt
#

Wasn't Megabeedrill like UU in its debut gen?

clear lichen
median fox
#

Yea
I like doubles more cause it doesn’t need each mon to be independently strong

clear lichen
#

But NatDex UU is a different place than Gen 6 UU

grave jolt
#

and then it never lived again

median fox
#

Megabeedrill is my favourite absolutely useless mega

clear lichen
#

Tell me how the fuck Mega Bee breaks Skarmory, or Celesteela

#

Or how it even hopes to get past Mega Aerodactyl, or heck even Mega Latias

grave jolt
clear lichen
#

Like it literally just misses the OHKO on Latias

#

And then gets OHKOd in return

#

It can't be understated how much of a fraud Mega Bee is

#

In NatDex UU

median fox
#

Cause it’s just bad to play against and play and watch and hear about and team build for

clear lichen
#

Tera Ice was ran defensively at one point in OU

#

Like

#

On a sample team

#

Because that's how desperate the situation was against Kyurem

grave jolt
clear lichen
#

Stall's not quite unviable in Gen 9

torn crane
clear lichen
#

But it certainly is its worst generation

clear lichen
#

Like idk just use Mega Venusaur or Mega Aero or something

grave jolt
clear lichen
#

Since you can literally use any other pivot in that case

grave jolt
#

Should I do a blissey run 🤔 (no)

clear lichen
#

Stall's a playstyle that honestly gets too much hate, it's a lot more complex than it seems

median fox
#

Mega venasaur my beloved

clear lichen
#

If a singular Pokemon on your stall team dies, prepare to get your team systematically dismantled

median fox
grave jolt
clear lichen
#

And being on the end systematically dismantling Stall is fun for me

#

It's like a puzzle

median fox
#

Zoners in fgc are complex for both sides which makes them more interesting

The most complex beating a stall team is is just “can I outdamage they’re sustain”

clear lichen
#

Yknow, until your opponent's Stall team is so poorly made it has like

#

0 Toxic users

#

And you set up to +6 with Lunala on them for free

#

But aside from that

median fox
#

Toxapex my beloved

grave jolt
#

Idk why you wouldn't get toxic on a stall team that's kinda looking for disaster

clear lichen
#

I met the same person on ladder later

#

Instead of getting Toxic they put Shadow Ball on their Chansey

#

It didn't work

#

I still set up to +6 on Chansey

grave jolt
#

lmao

clear lichen
#

They forgot to consider that Lunala is bulky as fuck and further boosting its SpD with Calm Mind

#

And that Chansey hits like a pea

grave jolt
clear lichen
#

I remember they also had a Clodsire

torn crane
#

Dude that's bliissey

clear lichen
#

Which I'm assuming was Unaware

#

But like

#

Moongeist Beam

#

Lmao

grave jolt
clear lichen
#

Anyways Blissey is better than Chansey in Gens 2, 3, 4, 8 and 9

#

And I think recent viability rankings put it above Chansey in Gen 6 and/or 7 too

#

Heavy-Duty Boots basically propelled Blissey into being the obvious better choice over Chansey

#

And of course before Eviolite was introduced Blissey is better too

grave jolt
#

Blissey is uu in gen 6 and 7, while chansey is OU in gen 6 and 7

clear lichen
#

And is UUBL

#

Just saying

grave jolt
#

I mean UUBL is basically OU if you think about it

clear lichen
#

OK I just checked it's 8th place

#

Point is, usage doesn't necessarily mean viability

#

Also misremembered, Chansey is better than Blissey by like 1 tier in Gen 6

#

But Blissey's still ranked quite highly

#

It's actually Gen 5 where Blissey is better

#

So Gens 2-5, and 8+9, Blissey is better

grave jolt
#

They're the same niche, and basically the same pokemon without HDB

clear lichen
#

In Gens 6 and 7, Chansey is better

clear lichen
#

Blissey hates losing Leftovers/HDB, sure, but Chansey losing Leftovers is catastrophic

#

Sorry, Eviolite

grave jolt
#

Chansey uses eviolite in 6/7

#

yeee

clear lichen
#

My brain sometimes doesn't work

clear lichen
#

At least I'd assume it would

#

As an additional note, I see people often state P2 is far better than Pz

#

Not only is this fucking stupid since their roles are completely different

#

But P2 is ranked higher than PZ in a singular generation

grave jolt
#

without eviolite, Chansey is strictly worse blissey

clear lichen
#

Anyways, TLDR: Eviolite is a fraud item in Singles

grave jolt
#

Chansey is one of the few success stories, and only in the 2 popular generations

clear lichen
#

And is very overrated, especially in low ladder

#

You see people running shit like eviolite 2nd stage starters in low ladder

grave jolt
#

lmao

clear lichen
#

NatDex OU btw

grave jolt
#

Prob want to use their in game team or smth

clear lichen
#

Literally just use the fully evolved starter

#

Every starter has at least 1 unbanned form in NatDex OU

Perish the thought....

#

Can't wait for Heatran to come to this game so we can just have basically nigh-unkillable Grass/Steel mons

grave jolt
#

How many fighting type moves even are there among NPCs in the game?

viscid fossil
full bison
#

My favorite Pokemon to fuse with Heatran would probably be Vespiquen, cause fire immune Bug/Steel with Healing Order

quaint matrix
#

Bro Vespiquen coming would be so gas

#

Being able to replace either Bug or Flying with anything else would do so much for it

fading swift
#

…hey I love bug types…

autumn radish
#

tbh, i would love Ribombee to be in PiF as well.
I agree that a Vespiqueen and Heatran would be a good fire immunity with Bug/Steel, a Ribombee/Heatran fusion would be stronger due to taking advantage of Flame Body (that, and Ribombee's speed would help to compensate Heatran's speed).

full bison
#

Vespiquen has better bulk on every field with 70/102/102 defenses and a recovery move. Ribombee is faster, but doesn't have anything to substantiate it. I guess Sticky Web, but there's definitely better combos for abusing that.

Welcome back to PPIF News!

We are here for a surprise second article (that's right it's not a one off and it will appear when I feel like it) today we'll talk about fusion day our beloved summer event. I interview gordo about fusion day here is what we talekd about.

1.How did it came to be in the first place

GamRsuspense : Fusion Day was proposed as an official yearly thing last year, following the mon' additions of 2023 as a yearly celebration of the server. It also lined up really well with our 500k celebration, so I was given the A-OK to go through with it. This year was moreso following up on the call to make it yearly, which leads into your second question nicely.

2.Were the extra lines this year you or frog idea?

GamRsuspense :The new lines this year weren't originally expected from me, since we just got Hoenn - but also I know that people like new additions n' whatnot, so as I was workin' on the banner with NTM, Hexx & Sadfrog - I was also behind the scenes with Frog asking for what I could work with for this year (mostly asking for the colored roles if anything), and was instead greeted with the chance to get 2 mons here into the celebration. Howls gave me the idea of using points, and when I ran it past Frog it was reaffirmed. From there, we could easily tracks some stuff for winners - and I ran with it, which leads me to question 3 nicely as well.

3. What was the hardest part of the organization
GamRsuspense :Easily the points - it was my first year of doing something like this with points and had a lot of trouble balancing it out throughout the month. I got pretty close with what I wanted, but there also some huge blunders that lead to unintended results. Luckily, I know where to improve on this structure for what I want to do next year so be on the lookout for that!

Part 1/4

#

4. Why did you choose pokeathlon as a theme this year?
GamRsuspense :Frankly the theme choice was a combination of a couple things? Like I know I wanted the theme to be majorly "Hoenn" to co-enside with the announcement of PIF: Hoenn, and also the ability to justify points & teams in a thematic way. Plus, the Pokeathlon is something official to Pokemon. While it may not be within Hoenn, it worked really well as a connecting piece to all these factors. Plus, it also enabled the team to have some substance in our writing for the events and structure for the sheet.

5.How do you feel about the way this year ended? And what would you have changed?

GamRsuspense :Overall, I'm really happy with how this years' events went - I really am. As previously mentioned though, I would've had the point balance be a lot more fluid rather and wish I didn't need to do boosts to stuff throughout the month. We had a lot of "Quantity > Quality" this year, which is something I am working hard to avoid for next year.

6.What was your favorite event and what was the one you liked the less?
GamRsuspense :I'd say my favorite event overall would probably have to be Food Fight! - this is an idea I've had for years ((since 2022)), and finally had a good way to execute on it! My least favorite event was for sure the Team Chart Rush - it was last second, slotted in, held the Quantity > Quality that I don't like, and also had some negativity & toxicity surrounding it that just bogged some people down.

Part 2/4

#

Extra questions (they were asked later and it's too late irl for me to be picky and sort them , it's almost midnight)

A.What was your and the staff reaction to mudkipstire? Did you expected the event to go that route?

GamRsuspense :Nope, it was an error on my part for sure.
Even beyond Mudkipster, every team had atleast one person who would've went that route
And that is not what we want to encourage.
Spriters should still take time to refine what they do, and post sprites that can be the best they can be rather that rushing sprites into the gallery that don't meet their full potential. A system of Quantity before Quality only hurts everyone in the community. People who play the game and use the sprites may just skip over them because they don't need their expectations, and we want Spriters to be able to look back on their work and be proud of what they do, rather than only moving forward and not improving along the way. Furthermore, it created a system of where the best way to "win" was to not interact with any of the events and just sprite.Which is also not fun, because it only punishes those who do participate, instead of going for the most efficient strategy/meta

B.did any of your team member/ staff members felt pressure to bulk sprite to keep up?
GamRsuspense :Yes and no. Yes - in that there was pressure, but not within the "pumping out sprites" thing. Rather, it was within the contests/events. Hero had put a lot of effort into the contests this time around, and I feel bad to have let them down with the bad point balance within those.

C.Why was 8/8 chosen as the date of fusion day?

GamRsuspense :Turn an 8 sideways. It becomes infinity
Therefore it's infinity times infinity, and with our number notation - it's a literal infinite fusion! Figured it'd be a fun touch, and it's what we've went with so far - and will probably stay that way.

Part 3/4

#

D.Were the pokemon team choice a collective decision among staff or was that mostly just one person?
GamRsuspense : We knew that we wanted the team choices to matter this year, otherwise: Why bother with 'em if any team could get any mon in?? So seperating 'em into categories seemed to be the best move - me n' Pory did that within a VC and it worked out pretty well and sent the list to review to Frog, and it looked good, so.... we followed through with it

At last here is the final word of gordo thank you for reading until the end and don't think I didn't saw you posting the word message (that person knows itself)

Gastrodon probably has an uphill battle to fight now that people know that it will take up four slots

tender plank

why would it take up 4, aren't west and east the same gameplay wise?

Frog said it'll take seperate slots because of aethetics

tender plank
#

damn

outer matrix
#

Like east looks different than west

tender plank

so would deerling line be 8 slots?

They have less differences than Dusk Lycanroc, yet they'd get 4 slots while Dusk gets excluded

Who knows

#

Pretty outrageous if deerling-line took up 8 slots though

tender plank
#

2 slots turn to 8

#

imagine being a deerling fan and trying to justify that

#

especially if the limited slots returned for some reason

inland jewel
#

i am not a big fan of gastrodon taking up 4 slots

full bison
#

It's just a stupid distinction for two purely aesthetic designs to be forced into separate sprites instead of it letting it be a "spriters discretion" thing

inland jewel
#

like i can understand someone saying. I want to use only gastrodon pink forms, but like, then just request a sprite for them to be pinktrodon

velvet root
#

Why do you all care about theyr slots?

tender plank
#

code wise i kinda get it? since the 2 forms are kinda part of gastrodon's gimmick and idk how you'd get that to work with only 1 slot???
but idk, just seems. unnessesary tbh

full bison
#

It would also mean Gastrodon bodies would be beholden to east and west sea design elements which barely differentiate themselves

tender plank
#

just my thoughts

proud lion
full bison
# velvet root Why do you all care about theyr slots?

Cause we already have huge issues with stuff like Meloetta and Minior having so little sprites shared between their forms, resulting in autogen hell. This would just be that without the justification of the different forms having different stats

tender plank
#

and the other multislot per form mons have reasons to exist
oricorio changes type and allat

viscid fossil
#

wait
does this mean we are actually getting 4,294,967,296 slots for spinda

velvet root
full bison
#

"eventually" or not, it's still extremely annoying for very long periods of time

bitter comet
#

I feel old now

full bison
#

And again, there's no statistical difference between Gastrodon forms, so there's less justification

velvet root
full bison
#

Yeah I'll just become a spriter this second then sprite the 500+ Meloetta forms

#

Amazing solution

velvet root
#

I mean its better than complaining

full bison
#

And it's also better for a problem to never exist at all than create something to complain about

velvet root
#

I dont see a problem
We just have more possibilitys for designes

full bison
#

The possibility still exists without taking up extra slots and leaving double the autogen opportunity. Again, Gastrodon being two slots would make it sprites a simple matter of spriters discretion while minimizing autogen hell

#

There's no new design opportunities created at all

velvet root
#

There are

full bison
#

If anything, 4 slots for Gastrodon gets rid of design opportunities, as Gastrodon bodies are now strictly beholden to East and West Sea design elements

velvet root
#

Some mons that can be splitt dont bring much to the tabel while others do

#

I say Gastrodon being split is better than Lycan dusk being added

full bison
#

Again, Gastrodon being split adds nothing. The color palette swap that is both forms still exists for spriters to make as they want. These design elements don't go away if Gastrodon is only 2 slots

inland jewel
#

ill agree to disagree

velvet root
#

Its not just a palette swap

inland jewel
#

Looking up frog's reasoning, it also would be all pink gastordon fusions would be found on the west side of the map while all blue gastrodon fusions would be found on the east

#

if gastrodon shared the same sprites, it would be hard to do that

#

it would keep their lore consistent

#

but like...

#

unecessary imo

#

I still find it funny how the two new additions will probably be placed in areas after the place the demo cuts off

It wouldn’t have been nearly as bad if the endgame was high level like xy or scarlet and violet

#

But the final boss pokemon of black and white, ghetsis’s hydreigon, is only level 54, which is when some mons evolve for the FIRST TIME

#

I feel like this part of unova’s evolution level issue gets very overlooked but it is a major part of it, you can’t use a decent amount of good mons until the final boss

I feel like this rant strayed away from a pif hoenn discussion lol mb

full bison

Especially since Steelix gets Sheer Force if you wanna run it offensively

quaint matrix
#

Exactly why I'm asking for it

grave jolt
#

So even worse: it's just probopass and the diglett line

full bison
#

Sand Force on Steelix is apparently a Mega thing. That was my mistake. (Why that ability on a Pokemon that just wants to be a tank?)

grave jolt
#

None of the sand force pokemon actually want to run the ability, mind you.
Garchomp wants to not mega, excadrill wants to use sand rush, diglett and dugtrio want to run arena trap or sand veil, shellos wants to run Storm Drain, Hippowdon wants to use Sand Stream, and Gigalith also wants sand stream.

#

Now looking at that list, I'd like any of the other users in regardless because they're all great

full bison
grave jolt
#

Dugtrio can ONLY run sand force in MP, since evasion is banned and it's abilities are Sand veil and arena trap

muted solstice
#

Sand rush steel type tho

#

Fairy + steel

grave jolt
#

Really dugtrio probably just wants to fuse with someone with a better moveset or ability and eq spam

grave jolt
#

The poke you probably want to fuse there is probably Granbul

full bison
#

Steel isn't even really a type you want on a sweeper due to how few types it hits for decent damage.
Sand Rush on a Ground/Fairy type, however, sounds like something that would get banned from Smogon after a week.

clear lichen
#

Excadrill is the answer

grave jolt
clear lichen
#

Best Sand Rusher and Sand Forcer (but tbh Sand Force is mid)

#

Tbh in a Infinite Fusion context it's probably the best possible Mold Breaker mon as well

grave jolt
#

160 attack / 100 speed / 110 defenses is speaking to me

#

That said, regigigas would also enjoy fusion with excadrill

quaint matrix
#

And I'm pretty sure it's Steel/Ground too and because Excadrill is all physical his ass would totally make for obscene Fairy/Ground mons

clear lichen
#

OK yeah in that case obviously it's Regigigas even if Excadrill has the better type and shit

#

There's no arguing against 160 Attack, 100 Speed and 110/110/110 bulk for any Pokemon below Ubers

full bison
quaint matrix
full bison
#

If it wants Ground/Fairy, it would be hoping for a good phys Fairy to fuse with. And in terms of those, we have the slow AF Granbull, ability dependant Azumarill, and mid-statted Mimikyu

#

And Slurpuff too I guess, but it's pretty much only got Belly Drum Unburden going for it

grave jolt
safe depot
#

If you want a faster Fairy albeit with less attack, the next best option is probably Slurpuff

#

Or maybe Klefki

#

Oh wait Mimikyu right

clear lichen
#

All of those Pokemon kinda just have

#

Subpar stats in every stat

#

And they all kinda get carried by their abilities

#

Granbull meanwhile has an actual Attack stat

#

But is also slow and frail

safe depot
#

I mean

#

Mimikyu is faster than Excadrill, wouldn't dull the attack that much and has alright defenses

safe depot
clear lichen
#

If you're running Sand Rush, Excadrill's Speed is more than enough

#

So ultimately, every fusion will just make its stats worse

#

Ground/Fairy certainly has the advantage when it comes to type coverage

#

But I feel the need to mention that Play Rough is a garbage move

torn crane
#

Never choose sand rush over mimikyu ability anyway

safe depot
#

You’re probably better off with a bulky Fairy/Ground type like Sylveon/Palossand

#

Go like Ice/Ground or Fire/Ground with Excadrill instead

#

Fairy/Ground gets all of the attention. But don’t let that dostract from other amazing Ground combos as well.

Ghost/Ground is also really good

clear lichen
#

The entire conversation stemmed from using a Sand Rush Ground/Fairy type bruh

#

I'm just trying to keep it to the original context

#

That said what good physical Ice types are there to fuse to Excadrill

#

Weavile I guess?

#

But is that compatible?

#

Dark/Ice and Ground/Steel, so it should be

#

As for Fire types, uhhh

#

Hmm

#

Also I want to note that in the context of a Sand Rush sweeper, it may actually be a good idea to have a secondary type that can handle Rain team Pokemon that will want to overwrite your Sand

#

Problem is, Water isn't exactly easy to get a good offensive type against

#

And then there's the part where they're not gonna be pure Water type

# clear lichen Stoutland

tbf to Stoutland, it's decent whenever Sand Rush is allowed and Excadrill isn't, but it also really wants to use a pokemon with Sand Stream. It was UU with Hippowpotas in Gen 5/6 until the hippo was banned where it fell to PU in gen 6 due to the hippo rising to OU, and RU with Gigalith in Gen 7.
Stoutland is a good pokemon when it gets sand up, and without excadrill it'd be OU.

Bro is never gonna see the light of OU

grave jolt

Stoutland dropped to untiered after Return was deleted in gen 8, but also PIF only goes to Gen 7 changes anyway 🤷‍♀️

hardy remnant
#

Why was Return deleted in gen 8?

grave jolt
#

Excadrill is just better than Stoutland in every niche that stoutland would find itself in

grave jolt
hardy remnant
#

I don't like the removal of moves, Return even with that high of power still had the issue of having no Pokemon weak to it and having the issue of multiple types resisting it and a type immune to it.

grave jolt
#

True, but also I seldom use any other normal attacking move in-game since it's just better

hardy remnant
#

Normal is a bit worse than ground offensively.

hardy remnant
grave jolt
#

Also so many pokemon learn Return that Bulbapedia lists the pokemon who can't learn it

hardy remnant
#

Average playthroughs won't have Return.

#

So it's mainly used in competitive Pokemon.

grave jolt
# hardy remnant Average playthroughs won't have Return.

Tbf Strength is a better move until 200 friendship, and Frustration is available from the beginning of the game and is better until 127 friendship.
That said, When you get return ingame (after sabrina) you probably have a pokemon with high enough friendship to use it.

hardy remnant
#

Yeah.

#

I personally don't use normal type moves much.

inland jewel
#

Gamefreak decided there was WAY to many moves

and Return just so happens that they didn't want to do with friendship mechanics anymore

grave jolt

And removed all the good ones 😔

I'm still upset about Pursuit in particular

never punished ghost types, especially with the type changes so that steel doesn't resist ghost anymore

I don't like the fact they removed so many moves when the moves were fine.

its more so they can spend less time coding/making animations for those moves

#

nevermind they could just reuse the old ones

weak trellis
#

I was gonna say electric doesn't have any issues on the special side it's more the phyical side that timmy's complaining about because there's thunderpunch (75), zing zap (80, exclusive to prickly pokemon), wild charge (90 with recoil), supercell slam (100 as a jump kick clone) and volt tackle (120, exclusive to pikachu/raichu) outside of legend-specific moves

#

but I can see them not doing overly well since yea most of them are built like raichu in terms of having high speed and special attack (and optionally attack) but mediocre-at-best defenses outside of the afermentioned zapdos still hitting par with em

#

actualy now I'm wondering is electric actually the frailest type if you put every electric's stats into a blender

#

(which is odd since in terms of actual resistances it's sitting very pretty at a 3/1 ratio, shame that 1 is Earthquake)

median fox
weak trellis
#

even iron hands has to choose between thunderpunch, wild charge, and supercell slam

#

though with an HP stat of 154 it doesn't quite mind wild charge's recoil as much as most electrics do

safe depot
#

Iron Hands is one of those good inspite of their type

weak trellis
#

hm bulb only has the raw stats, I'm not sure if these are counting legends since I'm expecting dragon and flying to both be very inflated if they are lol

#

going by those stats the 3 frailest types are... normal, flying, and yes, electric in that order

#

though out of those 3, only electric also had a bottom 3 HP stat but it also had bottom 3 in all 3 factors of bulk

#

guess normal's bulk was pretty heavily deflated by all of the earlygame rattata-likes

inland jewel
#

bug is not bottom 3?

#

wow

#

then again, bug is chock full of defensive types fused with Rock and Steel

slim otter
#

Bug is an okay type, but it's given to a lot of pokemon with low bst

inland jewel
#

yeah but on a chart showcasing which types are the frailest, Bug isn't bottom 3

weak trellis
#

checks* the bottom actually, with normal as second worst and electric as third worst for BST

#

as you can probably guess dragon was far and away the winner there, with psychic in second and steel in 3rd

inland jewel
#

yeah but going off defensive stats only

#

surprising since psychic is just like the worst type objectively

weak trellis
#

oh defenses yea bug did have the worst overall HP

#

psychic really wishes it was gen 1 back when it basically had the role that Ghost does now

inland jewel
#

back when psychic was apparently immune to ghost due to a bug

weak trellis
#

not that it mattered since that only affected one move which was... lick

#

since some types just basically didn't have STAB (or actually didn't have STAB at all in dragon's case) back then

#

it feels like out of gen 1's types a third of them exist pretty much just in a defensive sense
