I want to collaborate with y'all to design a kind of simple clothing that is inspired by the philosophy of toki pona and other cultural influences. Some of my design pillars are as follows
-
Made out of 1 or more sheets of cloth with no cutting, sewing, or stitching. The design is allowed to be knotted, pleated, folded, and draped.
-
Ideally, can be worn in a variety of environments. Can use lighter fabrics or a different drape in the summer, and heaver fabric and more layers in wintertime.
-
Can cover enough skin to not have to worry about exposure or being refused service in restaurants.
My initial design is as follows.
Initial concept is taking inspiration from Dhoti for the bottom half, and a Chalmys for the top half.
Any other ideas? What kind of outfit would you make with those constraints? Maybe we can make something inspired by Lipamanka's profile?
O len pona!
