$() - Evaluate formula. With only one simple word, you can do math! Inside a formula block, you can use "en" for multiplication, "kipisi" for division, and theres no substraction because who needs that. for example, to say 25, you can say $(5 en 5). oh yea adding is like normal. from bash $() - command substitution
the pronunciation is left as an exercise to the reader
ka - telepathy marker

actually, it's the k- and the b- :
kama — from Tok Pisin kamap
“to arise, appear, be born, become”. It comes from English come up. Come comes from Middle English comen, from Old English cuman, from Proto-West Germanic *kweman, from Proto-Germanic *kwemaną “to come”, from the aorist subjunctive of Proto-Indo-European *gʷémt “to take a step, arrive”, the athematic root aorist of *gʷem- “to step”. Up comes from Middle English up, from Old English upp, from Proto-West Germanic *upp, from Proto-Germanic *upp “up”, from *ub “under” with a nasal affix representing earlier *up-nó, the root coming from Proto-Indo-European *upó “from below”, from root *h₁ewp- “to rise”.
anpa — from Acadian French en bas “below”. Equivalent to en “in” + bas “low”. The former comes from Middle French en, from Old French en, from Latin in, from Proto-Italic *en, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₁én “in”; the latter comes from Old French bas, from Late Latin bassus “thick, stumpy, short, low”. It comes from either Ancient Greek βάσις (básis) “step, foot, base” or βαθύς (bathús) “thick, deep, profound”, or possibly from Oscan or Celtic. Ancient Greek βάσις (básis) comes from Proto-Hellenic *gʷə́tis, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷémtis “step”, from root *gʷem- “to step” + *(é)-tis (abstract/action noun suffix). Ancient Greek βαθύς (bathús) is the zero-grade of the root of βένθος (bénthos) “depth (of the sea)”, of uncertain origin; alternatively, from earlier *βαφύς (*baphús), related to Sanskrit गभीर (gabhīrá) “deep”; or, perhaps from Proto-Indo-European root *gʷeh₂dʰ- “to sink, submerge”.
sakuka - An outstanding/egregious animation quality episode in an anime. From Japanese 作画 (さくが/sakuga).

wait Descole is from
i'm getting my wires crossed
leton
puzzle, enigma
not a difficult mistake to make considering layton and ace attorney are similar enough that they got a crossover
that is literally my favourite game from both series
absolutely based take, the crossover gets too much hate
what from who
mostly when compared to other aa games, by people who aren't used to layton
wait i just realised your pfp is from AA
people say the plot twist is absurd (this is normal for layton)
people say it's a "layton game starring phoenix wright" (true to an extent, but layton needs a big overarching setting/atmosphere to really work while ace attorney is more episodic, so the way it's assembled makes sense. also every single trial segment was phenomenal imo, not a bad case in the game)
i think i've seen some other criticisms were about losing the ace attorney humor/atmosphere, which is kind of true, but despite the compromises the game is really more than the sum of its parts imo
not related but while we're on the topic of layton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOkkNpBjYkg

i don't think it's absurd
it suspends my disbelief
but so does that AA random poison that was in one case
atroquinine
yes but not one that can be detected by a random spray
true
also who are the people saying that Layton x AA's twist is too unbelievable but
spirit channeling?
athena's technology?
apollo's... uh... quirk
edgeworth is just good at chess i guess that's nothing
exactly tho. i think maybe it's just because unlike ace attorney twists, layton twists usually come out of nowhere with minimal foreshadowing
maybe people just were new to layton and weren't prepared to suspend their disbelief that hard
i think with a bit more foreshadowing it would have been better
but like
it wasn't soooo unbelievable
popesoletonpasipiniwajesatani

i didn't like the bad spell names in the AA x Layton thing though actually
oh like how they ||do the misheard name thing twice||
but it makes sense once you consider ||that some random CEO made them up||
no not that
ceo just made me instantly think of luigi 😭 it's not even recent anymore
luigi made me think of mario
like "dimere"
it's just a mid name
i guess every single other name had to be the way it was for the "pun" to work
yeah
godoor is goofy and just sounds like a godot reference even though it's not
but it had to be that way because
i love how PLvPWAA borrows from the third PL game in terms of absolutely absurd construction effort for the setting
you mean, every pl game?

REAL
at least they made the joke about objection being a spell at the end
but idk i think the third one is particularly spicy. HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY ||BUILD A HUGE HOLE UNDER LONDON LIKE THAT||
idk it would be dumb if the final spell was objection cuz why would it make sense
yeah it would be

continuing to be offtopic in the bad nimisin thread because it's just so fun to gush about your favourite series
make it "skibidi" since the town is stuck in antiquity
this is actually more convo about the crossover than i see in an actual aa server i'm in 😭
that's tragic 😭
how often do they talk about how spirit of justice is irredeemably bad
idk cuz 99% of convos there are memes
sometimes there is a serious heated discussion
what no AA in years does to a mf
also some people hate not just aj but apollo himself 😭 free my boy
FREE MY BOY
just cus each game in the second trilogy is written as if the previous game doesn't exist doesn't mean he's a bad character!!!!
yeah i liked how apollo didn't really feel like carbon copy nick, like hes a lil snarkier (yeah he could've been more relevant to the plot but eh he funny)
aj in general had great ideas (including me, the great mr valalalant) but kinda mid execution, that's why i think a lot of people don't like it
his failboyness is viscerally distinct from phoenix's
thoughts on quercus alba
thats a tree
his whole scene took too long
pretty cool guy isn't he
i literally don't remember this guy it's been too long
im gonna steal the words of someone else who described alba scenes in a very funny way: "you take a lot of time, assembling the avengers even though there are some people who really should not be assembling avengers-style"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGKe9J6qhnc&ab_channel=Lossr this is all of quercus alba's case
(possible major aai spoilers)
all hail the great tree man
#aceattorney #objectionlol
"my rights to remain silent" yaps excessively
OHHH i don't remember him because i haven't played the investigations games 😭
quercus alba is cool in theory but absolutely mid in practice
calling myself an ace attorney fan when i havent actually played all the games my life is joever
(i haven't gotten to dd or soj yet)
i need to start the last case of investigations 2 and then i will be able to move on
the cohdopian embassy 😭
divided between allebahst and bahbal
shame. dd is kinda good even though it does not flow from aj. soj is just gimmicks and casual racism
c divided between a and b
what language do they speak there i wonder
sebahstian and bahbalic
probably cohdopian which mysteriously transmuted into allebahstian and bahbalian when the country split
(yugoslavia moment)
who's sebastian
a detail i love is that the symbol of allebahst is a flower, and bahbal a butterfly. ambassador of allebahst is quercus alba (scientific name of white oak tree/flower), and ambassador of bahbal is colias palaeno (scientific name of a type of butterfly i forgor which)
colias palaeno is peak
i love how they straight up used binomial names for characters
bi__nomi__al names
atm machine
and as we speak here about ace attorney
waso Waja randomly brought up an ace attorney song in kama sona
ugh. binomina if you MUST
jfa had peak soundtrack
hot take but jfa objection is the best objection out of the pwt

have you heard about the ocarina of time ace attorney romhack
this is supposed to be "bad nimisin thread" but it looks like a pun on "Ba Sing Se"
really one could call it 27/16
almost as bad as earthbound masked man
wrong it alternates between 7/8 and 6.5/8
apparently this is codohpian
it seems the countries haven't been apart long enough to claim separate languages
they're not going to invent new languages and force the entire population to learn them
just because they are different countries now
this happens irl afaik
like multiple countries speak same languages or similar
serbo-croatian:
not invent new languages
just claim that they speak separate languages
like serbia and croatia
who each say that they speak different languages to each other
ah right, makes sense
so basically like "in america we speak american! we don't speak canadian, british, australian, or european!"
i need to find that original meme cuz i keep referencing it but i can't find it
actually
why are they ABC in english
in japanese they're A B K
and that isn't even alphabetical order for the A and B
don't think so
you know, i'm planning to make an ace attorney case in toki pona with objection.lol (cannot promise it will be finished or even started, because i have too many unfinished projects and way more unstarted ones), but anyway, right now i'm planning it out, and i've been debating if i should go full deid mann and name the victim "mo li"

not really a nimisin but moreso a spelling "reform". every instance of the letters "li" is replaced with ඞ. so a normal sentence such as "meli li pali e kili lili seli" is now "meඞ ඞ paඞ e kiඞ ඞඞ seඞ". this improves toki pona because it provides a shorter way to write the common syllable that normally requires two letters. of course it sacrifices readabiඞty, and won't be understood by the majority of toki pona speakers, and the symbol isn't found on your keyboard so it's difficult to use, and only a few people will do it so often times there will only be one user per conversation, and it will cause a ඞttle hurdle in communication for non-users, even those famiඞar with the nasin, and using it is never going to change toki pona as a whole or convince others to ඞike it or use it, but hey, it saves a letter! we solved linguistics! i mean, uh, ඞnguistics.
