ma - place, country, world, land, ground, soil
< Arabic مَـ (ma-) (prefix used to create nouns of place)
we've come full circle, now we are making words which are the same and mean the same, with false etymology
we finally did it, the ultimate nimisin
which meaning is your favourite?
"emasculation language" toki pi mije ala
is pretty good
either "gingersnap" or "telling someone you like them by means so convoluted that they don’t notice"
this actually gives me an idea
but you need an adjective
ewitenewiwejoletuwansa - anything in the official toki pona lexicon (nimi pu + nimi ku)
<- English "Everything Everywhere All At Once"
so you actually mean "gingersnap telling someone you like them by means so convoluted that they don’t notice"
which is just one definnition
i love when my telling someone you like them by means so convoluted that they don’t notice is similar to british cookies
honestly a lot of similarities
both are... uh
awkward
because cookies are... crumbly
and crumbly is the physical equivalent to awkardness?
idk i tried lmao
i love finding alternate translations for kay(f)bop(t) sentences
ive only heard of kay(f)bop(t) from jan misali but its a hilarious concept
petition for it to be the official language of jupiter
did you know that the han characters in their video aren't actually in kay(f)bop(t)
but them being there gaslit David Swanson into believing he had added han characters
it was actually a rendering error

oh i need that
SETO
nimisina - mondegreen
<- toki pona "nimi sina li sama nimi sin a"
should be "esuno"
esun o vs e suno
or mani vs ma ni
kalamanimi - intentionally confusing
<- toki pona kalama nimi/kalama ni mi/kala ma nimi/kala ma ni mi/kala mani mi
optional po at the start to add in po kala/poka la if you count po as a word
"nan", "pa" and "paka" are defined in sona.pona.la, if you count those as words then you get a few more

po n anpa [kalamanimi]
po nan pa [kalamanimi]
po nan pakala [manimi]
po nan paka la [manimi]
po nan pa kala [manimi]
pona n pa [kalamanimi]
etc
there's probably also a way to incorporate the o-ko-oko-soko word ladder

this actually got me
what is the real etymology
today, i forgot what is the term for when a word is made up without any etymology, so i was thinking "was it ad hominem"?
a priori??
how is that related to apijasa though
what is apijasa
maybe it's a priori
apijowi (a priori) + nasa
no i think it's actually apijasa, common misconception
oh ofc. why would you insult me in this debate
one time my brother mixed up "pros and cons" for "quid pro quo"
not exactly apijasa, but I'm sure you can extend the semantic space to include mixing up latin stuff

from english “yes and”
nowasuwali - to build instead of, to stop, to reject (esp. a joke or bit)
from english "no actually"
that is such a revolutionary idea for a word! i think everybody should adopt the use of this fantastic and descriptive word to describe spatial concepts!

By repeating the word any more times, it means anything with a binary color code with more 1s than 0s when the binary color code of an arbitrary object made out of less than √180% water is added to it when the word is repeated a prime number of times, and a hole filled with any element of the periodic table that's a prime minus 10 or 27 when repeated an odd, non-prime number of times.
If it's repeated an even number of times, however, its meaning can be determined using the following procedure: first, count the number of strokes it takes to write this and the following sentence with hiragana and kanji as described on sona pona. If the number is threeven, choose yourself, if it's not but it is even, choose the nearest other person, if it's not and it is odd, choose anyone else. Then count the sum of all letters using their positions in the French alphabet. If the sum is a prime, collect a sample from the person's mouth, if its smallest factor is 2, from the person’s small intestine, if it's 3, from the appendix (if the person doesn't have one, surgically add it and wait), if anything larger, from the large intestine. Then choose any bacteria from there and analyze a piece of its DNA of arbitrary size, specifically how often each type of nucleobase appears. Then determine the meaning by which nucleobase appears the most often, second most often, etc. Note that in the following reference tha first letter corresponds to the least common nucleobase and the last to the mont common:
ACGT — anything in the Swadesh list, ACTG — any timeline of local events that results in something insignificantly small but regardless locally important to disappear, ATCG — any irrational cubic root of an integer taken using an obsolete calculator during a planetary conjunction as observed from Mars if it were where it is 1 million seconds in the future, ATGC — a nimisin being created while a horse is running approximately 100 meters away at an arbitrary but precise momentum, AGTC — zero-dimensional ferroelectrics, AGCT — any circular object that was known to be destroyed in the past more than two Saturn days ago but less than a light parsec (time it takes light to travel a parsec) ago but is now restored and protected by multiple people who think preserving the object is very important wto however don't know that it'll play a very important but completely unexpected role in the future involving a disaster in a country whose name starts and/or ends with a vowel in its second most spoken language,
CAGT — squirrel-rat hybrid raised in a lab on a lattitude whose integer part’s digits add up to a number divisible by either 3 or 5 but not both taken care by someone who scored odd numbers of % on all of their 7th grade final exams, CATG — high quality horizontally (±√√3°) spinning (to the left) rat (only genus Rattus) that spins faster over time (exponentially faster, speed multiplied by e every 1 trillion unperturbed ground-state hyperfine transition frequencies of the caesium 133 atom) as viewed from an Android device during and odd-numbered year since the fall of Constantinople from a place that was a part of an empire at any time between 1890 and 1930, CGAT — the real size of an arcsecond from a light year of distance, CGTA — the interaction of anything made at least partially from a heavy metal or a halogen and anything at least vaguely related to glass, grass, or raccoons, CTAG — anything within the semantic space of at least two distinct toki pona words that start with a vowel, CTGA — anything presented as a viable solution to a problem that however only makes things worse and solves a made-up issue that didn't even exist before, TACG — any sound fish can make but not on their own but instead using an overly complicated mechanism designed by a bunch of nerds that barely even works but is still kept working just because turning it off would be a waste of time, TAGC — grue (Nelson Goodman’s philosophical experiment; of an object, green when first observed before a specified time or blue when first observed after that time), TGCA — bleen (Nelson Goodman’s philosophical experiment; of an object, blue when first observed before a specified time or green when first observed after that time), TGAC — chicken powered nucleac bomb,
TCAG — to think that according to all the known laws of aviation a bee shouldn't be able to fly because its wings too small to get its fat little body off the ground but the bee flies anyways because bees don't care what humans think is impossible even though that is clearly a myth and humans have already figured it out, TCGA — whatever Wiktionary’s foreign word of the day in 133, 279 or 790 will be means, GACT — anything that has not yet been covered by nimisin present on the last linku survey but is covered by nimisin invented in ma pona pi toki pona anywhere including the bad nimisin toki suli, GATC — to think you are a cat when you are clearly biologically a dog, GTAC — possessing a quality one would think only something that starts with the initial m in Mandarin would have, GTCA — to say “how much time is, therefore, necessary, to make the aforementioned sequence of events subject to the quantum randomness of reality in general? All of the agents from all of the timelines are then clearly aware of the inconsequentiality following the sequence's own quantum randomness” like it's something smart and very philosophically deep out of context and expect everyone to understand your point if you even have one,
GCAT — to be obsessed with one particular thing and then discover a new hobby through it and then find new friends because of that hobby and then find out about something you are not supposed to know about through thone friends, dive deep down that rabbit hole and eventually get to specific coordinates somewhere in Canada, go there and find an abandoned military base, find keys to a room with a secret supercomputer from the 1990s there, and then use it to decrypt a secret message left there which leads you to finding out about the location of a top-secret former Chinese secret base in Inner Mongolia, and arrive there and find a message which gives a series of clues leading to the location of the Heirloom Seal of the Realm which leads to you finding it which leads to the government of China secretly hunting you down and assasinating you and publicly saying they found it instead so after that you want to avenge them from the afterlife so you possess one of the government officials into pulling out a weapon and using it on as many people as possible but then you realise that was kind of a horrible idea so you try to instead possess them into acknowledging you found it but your attempts are futile so after you die in the afterlife by the virtue of being forgotten as you haven't shared your stories with anyone you get into afterafterlife and learn you can possess anyone in the afterlife so you possess the soul of the president of China in the afterlife into possessing his corpse which is still in an ok condition because he died an hour ago so you make others believe the president recovered from a coma and now you are finally successful with convincing everyone you actually found the Seal, GCTA — to use cursed nimisin
Note even again that by adding any extIPA diacritic to the word it is pronounced as [original pronunciation]+any speech disorder sound whispered played through a speaker in tungsten hexafluoride in any country that has the letter n in its ISO code.

kən - to approximate, to tend towards one extreme, to err
do you mean "mele kalikimaka"?
hawaiian doesn't have s
hawaiian casually having even fewer sounds than toki pona (if we don't count long vowels and diphthongs as their own things)
uhhhhh thank you for this
i forgot for some time that i was making a nimisin
As we all know, the grammar of Toki Pona is utterly broken, and some sentences are completely ambiguous. For example, there is no way for me to know if sina mute o awen pona tawa jan ale means "may you all continue being good to everyone" or "you multiply and please stand hundredly movingly well in an anthropomorphised way. Do you know how often I want to express my anthropomorphised standing?! This ambiguity is unacceptable in a well functioning language, Lojban would never do this to us. The solution is pretty obvious:
u - content phrase marker
The particle is obviously going to be used super frequently and needs to be as short and memorable as possible. That makes u, one of the most common sounds crosslinguistically, a perfect pick. It's not currently used for anything and I'm sure it never will be.
You might be confused by the fact my proposal contains no paired particle. If we open a content phrase, surely we need to close it as well. Well you see, this redundancy is easily avoided by a simple rule:
u - marker of the midpoint of a content phrase
With this simple, naturalistic change, we can easily disambiguate between sina u mute o awen pouna tawa jan u ale and sina muute o awen pona tauwa jan ale!
I also understand some people will not want to use u in content phrases where it's obvious it's a content phrase, which I assure you does not defeat the purpose of my proposal whatsoever. For example, you can drop the u in awen pouna tawa jan u ale which results in awen pouna tawa jan ale which is still obviously a content phrase only containing pouna, not awen pouna tawa, unless your nasin includes jan as a preposition, which is totally valid. In the jan-preposition case, you can also use ' (apostrophe) to specify there isn't actually an u here:
awen pouna tawa jan al ' e
I will make sure to inform newcomers in #learn-toki-pona-1 about this proposal regularly.
are vowels side by side pronounced individually or do they melt together (don't eat me i don't linguistics)
who said anything about the u being pronounced? we all know grammar ambiguities only need to be resolved when writing and reading
tbf there aren't many common minimal pairs between /t~k/ (all i can find is tu–ku), [h] for /s/ seems workable, and i'd say /j/ can be realized as [i] but it seems like there are limited allowed diphthongs so touché there
👏̌́u - reserved for a (hypothetical) toki pona book containing overly specific nimisin
you just used this word as a sentence-initial particle in a 2-word sentence, which means it means... let me check opens the document ah yes it means this sentence doesn't exist and is false simultaneously! at least you didn't use it sentence-finally that'd be a disaster.
Except for selo and telo, all nimi pu don't make a destinction between s and t
but tu san and tuli make it a problem if you go outside of it

n
i am currently attempting to do this..
m n p w l k s Ø = m n p w l k h '
original thinking was -n as long vowel, but then what do we do with t and j
they would ideally be ki and 'i but i doesn't form initial diphthongs except with u
so i think t and j have to form long vowels? (or form diphthongs with a, but that sounds weird), and n has to be final -u
or wait what we could do
merge j syllables and Ø syllables
jaki jan jelo jo become 'aki 'an 'elo 'u
and then merge k and t?
only conflict is tu / ku
tu can become uh
tu -> prenasalized tu -> nu
jo and tu are now u and nu, sorry sonja
and then -n forms long vowels
cool
