@stray maple @prime mulch Hollow Knight is a metroidvania, you have a huge open world in a 2D platformer style. the world is in theory open from the get go but you need to go around and collect various items that let you traverse the landscape differently and at the same time you can also open paths in other ways. in HK you play as a little cute bug knight thingy where you get to explore the old city of Hallownest and its overgrown paths. there's bossfights to be had and mysteries to explore!
